Perfection is not attainable

Even the great Don Rogers was not consistent.....he was brilliant and unstoppable one game and the next might do very little....
With the greatest respect I don't think Isgrove can be compaired to Don Rogers. Isgrove could go 4 or 5 games without even creating anything but in the nother game he was almost unplayable in L2.

Nobody expects any winger to play well in every game but to just give up and let his head drop and not bother trying to track back when he has lost the ball is not good, even Woolery when he lost the ball always tried to win it back again.

I think I only saw Isgrove do this once or twice and that was early in the season when he was playing well.

Yes I would keep him if he wanted to stay in the hope that he refound his early form for us, but also I am not bothered if he leaves, he obviously doesn't want to be here so goodbye and good luck.

Again, Wellens has been canny. He knows the likelihood of another 30 goals per season striker is hugely unlikely he replaces the enigmatic Isgrove with a player who does what he does but scores goals as well.

This coming season we have to spread the goals throughout the team. Smith (Jonny) looks likely he will provide similar assists as Isgrove but chip in around 8-10 goals as well. Payne, too, has more goals in him than Keshi.

Intriguing to see who the striker(s) end up being.

Absolutely this.

Would be great to get in a player like Bogle or Norwood but I fear the budget won't allow that.

From what I have seen so far I would say Yates is a similar standard and style to Tyler Smith and Payne looks an improvement on Anderson, Jonny Smith also looks more consistant and a goal threat than Isgrove was going by his Oldham performances.

Just get in that elusive striker now and we will be close to the squad we need to be competitive.

People seem to be forgetting he had a serious ligament injury. It’s quite an assumption to make that tie drop off in performance was due to effort rather than the fact the injury may/probably affected him very badly. Good luck to him.
To be fair is anyone saying otherwise? just saying he only had a few weeks good performances. If anything it just shows how injury prone he is and I'll be amazed if he gives anyone more than 25 appearances I'd be shocked . He's 27 and played 70 league games

I wasn't comparing quality!! Simply that wingers are more affected than most by condition of pitch,  nature of defenders etc. It was often commented on that, in the good old days of the mud bath pitch, the Don could leave the pitch with hardly a mark on him because he just didn't make an impact.

He's also abit of a lightweight and may struggle against better defenders

Isgrove's injury impacted his play I think, he played in a very frustrated manner once he returned.  He got irritated with himself quite a bit.  I liked him, would have been happy keeping him, but early indications are he's been replaced and well.

A fraction to me means a little i.e. if he’s on £5k pw we’ll pick up £4k.

What’s the consensus about what we were paying out of Doyle’s £5k pw- £3.5k?

A fraction of, not a fraction off.

If Norwood isn't wanted by Ipswich....which he isn't....surely it makes financial sense to loan him out with some other team paying a percentage of his (large) wage rather than sit him on the bench on full wages and not play him.

Personally I doubt it will happen, he would however be a decent signing if we could get him. They signed him on a free so won't lose out on any transfer fee.

According to his twitter account Isgrove could be off to Grimsby.

He's from Eastbourne, so you'd think he'd prefer Swindon if he wants to be close(ish) to family.
