For all we know, it might have been Wellens' decision to not pay more for Yates.

Here is a cracking rumour for you....

So the team was in Marbella for a week. You probably don’t realise but the plays off for the Spanish equivalent of league 1 to championship  were held last week in Marbella. As it’s regionalized there were 16 teams competing. Wellens could have watched  all 16 in the space of 3 or 4 days.
I’m expecting some incoming talent from potential 2nd tier spanish sides.

Carlos Kickaball. Didn’t Oldham have loads of unknown foreign lads in their squad last season?

Just as an aside Deportivo la Coruna, a big name in Spanish football were relegated to the regionalised third tier on Monday . Malaga just surviving the drop.

I noticed that! They were a staple Champions League side in the late 90s early 2000s IIRC.

Spanish Sunderland
Ipswich, Sunderland, Blackburn, Aston Villa....it doesn't take much to fall from grace.

To a lesser extent Southampton and Bolton as well.

How the mighty can fall with 2 bad seasons in a row or poor ownership.

Thoroughly looking forward to this happening to Bournemouth in the not too distant future
