Blackpool fans deserve a bit of a luck and Yates gets a 3 year contract a league above the one he was playing at last season. As much as it's a shame we didn't sign him up, Wellens signed a team last year designed to get us up. He brought in, pretty much entirely, players who had done it with success at that level already or were far better players in terms of ability but had risks associated with them. My hope is he'll be looking to do likewise again now in League One, sign players with a smidge of extra quality about them. Quite frankly, and this may be harsh, but I'd happily replace the entire team if it meant we got a better one. Gone are the days of any real loyalty in football, so while the team gets my full support in every games, I'm not that fussed by which players are in the team.

Blackpool and Bolton both going down the unproven route with managers.
I’m looking forward to seeing how they work out.
TBF to Bolton their manager is not really unproven albeit he is at that level, Blackpool is another matter entirely, a league higher and as you rightly say very Williamsesque.

I love it when rival fans make statements like "We're going to be top 6 no doubt about that"
I wish Jerry all the best and thank him for the season - at the start of last season nobody really "knew" about him and were nonplussed by his signing, his performances earned him our respect, and that is what we were basing our hopes on him signing - in the grand scheme of things it's not a massive deal if we trust Wellens and Jewell to do something similar this season - which i personally do.
In the same way that Blackpool didn't know who he was a year ago and are now lauding his signing and taking time to register on a town forum to make statements like the above... all of this based on his performances for us and our manager - at least our hopes of him signing were based on context that we know about, their's is not.. I'll give it 10 games before there is a thread about Jerry Yates on their forum complaining about him, although I hope for his sake that there isn't.
I am excited to see what are the next gems that Wellen's will introduce us to..
Move on..

We should likely expect a slightly higher quality loan signing as well. Time to get used to players only really being here for 1 or 2 years these days.

Especially in a market where investing in players for the future is even more of a risk than it was previous seasons.

I know most on here are level headed and aren't even close to pressing the panic button but it's highly unlikely we are going to start next season (whenever the hell that is) with Twine and Woolery up front.
DV mentioned that its 73% of our goals gone from last season and for me its disappointing that we aren't going to be able to provide any consistency up front as we know Yates, Doyle and Anderson play very well in Wellens' system. That said, he built a championship winning side last season so no reason why he can't build one that can challenge at the right end of the table in League 1.
Boring to see a twitter troll has made its way onto here. Why can we never get vaguely intelligent opposition fans (with apologies to Banker and Mystical Goat) who might actually want to chat about Yates, and his good and bad points etc rather than just come on here and post verbal shite. Ho hum!!

I've never understood the point of trying to insult other people by putting down where they come from.
Yeah, my home town was a shithole, so fucking what? What does that have to do with me personally?

Indeed. Every Town/City in the whole of the UK has good and bad parts, some more than others but the point still stands. And why go onto a forum and just dish out shit? engage in conversation, use your brain cell(s), we all support shit sides from shit towns...so what? we aren't Premier Legue any more so of course we are shit by comparison. Just pointless mud slinging, people in glass houses as they say.
