lots of posts on Twitter praised MAF.
lots on FB said he looked poor.

if we hadn't signed adebeyo I'd not even question it. But we have, and while he may be 'better', is he really what we need given age and scoring record?

I guess Brown should no know..

When MAF left Southend, a lot of their fans were disappointed and wanted him to get an extra year. If they were pleased with him in league 1, I can see him being an asset with a drop down to league 2 despite his age.

As for the defender, surely a young lad from a PL club has to be better than a young lad from Bristol Rovers.

I can imagine Fortune starting and Adebayo coming off the bench. Cheltnum fans said he was better that way then starting.

Did we have a 20 goal a season striker when we won the league with Paolo? I can’t remember one off the top of my head, so I don’t think it’s essential.

No, but Benson scored 11 in 22 having joined in January.

This is my thinking at the moment too, I just can't see where a regular supply of goals will come from, yes I had a discussion with Reg last year who suggested we didn't need a regular high scorer, I said we did and I still stand by that.

Virtually every team that gets out of this division has one player who scores 20+ goals in a season, we don't have that currently, although Richards has the ppotential if he get sback to fitness and can maintain it, although he has never broken the 20 league goals in a season mark.

Luton last years had Hylton 23 and Collins 20.
Accrington had Kee 26 and Jackson 16.
Wycombe had Akinfenwa 18.
Coventry had McNulty 26.

This is the thing, I think we do have a 20 goal striker on the books. He’s just injured for the first month.

What about Twine? Harry Smith said he was a clinical finisher so maybe he is going to be our source of goals this season?

I've been hoping he might be able to get amongst the goals this season.

I have only seen Twine play 4 times and almost all the game time he played wide left rather as a striker so I don't know if he has it in him, possibly he does, we will see, he seemed a little lightweight for this division but that could work in his favour. Kayden Jackson isn't exactly well built and he scored a fair few for Accrington last season.

And you'd still be wrong.... it's the goals total that's important, particularly the crucial goals that get you the points.  Doesn't matter who scores them... if it includes someone who bangs them in then fair enough, but it isn't necessary.

We've got out of Div 4, 3 times. Twice winning the league, one of those with a record points total..... no player scored 20+.

The only player to score 20+ for us in Div 4 was Paul Rideout in 82/83.... we didn't go up.

I assune you mean Richards?

Not sure that at his age he could get the most goals in a single season of his career, his highest total previously being 19, 18 and a 16 in a season.

A 16 this season would be handy if we had another striker getting 20+, depends on how MR is when back to fitness I guess and if he can sustain a run of fitness too.

And I still disagree 100% and think I am correct, we will have to agree to disagree.
