Quote
"For everyone who is congratulating me on getting a move to full-time football, I would appreciate it if you could stop.

"No one more than myself wanted this to be the case and at one stage it was very close, and I was led to believe that possibly things were happening to ensure it would be concluded and I would get the chance after missing out a few months ago having a deal fall through.

"But unfortunately I have received a phone call this morning to tell me the club who were interested are pulling out for reasons unknown to even myself, so as much as I appreciate everyone being supportive there's nothing to be supportive of!

"Please keep your opinions to yourself also cause my heads melted.

"Cheers."

He's not happy. Wonder if he may force the issue.

Sounds like he needs a Guiness to cheer himself up!

Well if his head has melted he probably won't be much use.

Regardless of Swindon Town being involved, it must be ridiculously frustrating for a semi-pro footballer trying to go pro when these things happen.

Surprising for us to balk on add ons when we are giving spurs 50% of everything we get from Byrne/Loungo.

I guess this could be more directly costly to us with fees for international appearances etc

Its a little worrying we are pulling out of signing a part time player because of cost. Perhaps it isn't cost. Perhaps Kent is now likely and they both serve the same purpose?

We did the same with Poole for Austin, when they were after some add-on's and we refused to play ball with them, so not something new or unique regardless of how much it might be.

Also as it looks like he has previously had one deal fall down, you have to wonder whether the selling club are asking for silly add on's (which they are entirely entitled to do so).

Or maybe this is just part of the negotiation.

So LP pulled the plug after rumpus over add ons. Player and agent get onto the club, club goes whoops, talks back on. Interesting as normally we don't get to hear any of this. Press ban, what press ban...

What are the usual add-ons?

Games played
Town get promoted
Sell-on clause

Can't amount to that much, surely. And even if it did it would mean we'd bought a good player.

Hardly seems too difficult to sort. Feel sorry for the young fella.

International appearances would be a big one for Glentoran. Being Northern Irish, he's highly liked to play for the senior team if he impresses for us.
