Just been on the Walsall forum to see what they've been saying about Bradshaw (fwiw they also don't think we've got a cats chance in hell of signing him) & one of their supporters seems to think their budget is around the £2.2m mark!!

Walsall have been one of the better run clubs financial in recent times. If they are around 2.2M I must have missed them taking the breaks off, it makes our 50% of that budget look pathetic given our gates v theirs..
That or its BS. Genuinely don't know which.

So how come we can bid for a top L1 striker but haven't got the money to sign Eckersley.
Don''t add up
As i said earlier, i think they have budgeted for 1/2 more forwards so they are already counting that when they say they cant afford Eckersley. We are far more comfortable with defenders so its not a priority.

I suppose what most fans would like to know is if Power lends the club £400,000 to buy Luongo who us then sold for, say, £2.5m, who retains the profit from any deal - Power or the club's bank balance.
If the club is never going to profit from these deals then we'd better be prepared for lower league football for the forseeable.
As i've said in my last paragragh, that depends on how much debt the club has at the time to power for all the other out goings accrued. What you're really asking is on an assumption that there is no overhanging debt to power how much of the 3.5 million would he trouser?

Almost certainly. Lots of people get really wound up by Bassam, he doesn't offend me at all but it's fairly clear that he's trying to take them on and failing (thus far).

Can someone explain what the point of these type (allegedly) derogatory bids to other league 1 clubs are?
We aren't exactly a step up from Shrewsbury or Walsall for their prized assets. And are extremely unlikely to be such a good payer we can buy their souls for a bag of silver in wages.
A couple of 100K is a reasonable amount for us to pay out, but imagine if that's what someone had bid for Luongo or Gladwin, we'd piss ourselves laughing and tell them to do one.
It feels a bit of a joke bid like that new bloke off Dragon's Den that's a cross between Theo Paphitis and Harry Hill occasionally does. "I'll give you all the money, but in exchange I want 70% of the business and to be able to take your wife roughly from behind".

It's to make the fans think we are 'in the market' instead of the bargain bucket.
The offer for Goldson was apparently £175,000 plus Storey - probably not a million miles away from his actual worth.
If the offer for Bradshaw was similar then, yes, it was a piss-take. £750,000 would have made them think twice.

but as fans surely it's obvious we are shopping are home bargains. not waitrose.
what's the point of pretending otherwise. it's not like there are season ticket sales to consider.
said it before, the biggest disappointment thus far for me is a lack of targeted signings outside of loans. and yes they may yet appear

Why is Tom Bradshaw apparently worth a million plus and we haven't got a cat in hell's chance of signing him, yet we'd all be happy to get 500k for Michael Smith. Genuine question.
TB is a promising player who would work better with Obika than Smith, who as we all know wants to move on, but their records are remarkably similar. Both 21, both score at this level and below at about 1 in 3.
Not suggesting we keep Smith, more highlighting the weird valutions clubs, and more importantly fans, put on players. What's Obika worth to us? I'd rather have him than Bradshaw if I was in charge of someone else....
