According to the adver Mawson is putting his development ahead of money. In which case, I think that puts us in the driving seat for his signature.

And the adver get's their info from their sauce...Mr Tomato

Indeed, and the locality of playing for a club 10 miles away rather than one 70 miles away could be a decider.

He's Winnersh based - far easier to get to Swindon than Bromley (Miiiiiiiiillwall's training ground).

Although we don't actually know where we'll be training. Could be Winnersh for all we know!

I'm round the corner so can give him a lift down on match days. That'll sell it to him I'm sure.

I thought that was obvious (and I pointed it out a few pages back).

If he was interested in the money he'd have signed the contract on offer from Brentford.

Think this is when we start to see if our track record of developing kids will pay off in recruitment.

Not necessarily, if as alluded to in the Adver, he was offered a derisory offer just to trigger the tribunal payment that would be required if they had offered a deal.

Has to be equal or greater terms to trigger tribunal

I doubt he was on much anyway considering he hasn't even played a single game for them.

No doubt, I was just pointing out that a "derisory" offer is all but impossible in this instance.

It could be derisory in comparison to what he could get elsewhere but as you state they have to offer him equal or better contract to qualify for a tribunal fee.

It could be just very slightly better than the deal he already had I guess, but in saying that the tribunal fee is often linked directly to the wages offered to the player, less wages=less fee, which is basically how we managed to get Colin Calderwood for such a paltry sum at the time.

You may be right. You may be wrong. But I'm pretty sure things have changed somewhat in the last 25 odd years so the CC link is futile.

And the reason why Mansfield were mighty pissed off.....namely because we were paying CC creatively, but at Tribunal stated a different figure.   Still no reason for Notts paramiliconstabulary to baton our fans at Field Mill in 86 mind.

Still it was OK for such things in Thatcher's Britain, as evidenced by the recent decision of the IPPC, that despite evidence of perjury, perverting the course of justice and assault, at Orgreave, it was a few years ago so let's leave it at that  Angry

I don't think the Town fans helped themselves that day by singing Margaret Thatchers Black and White Army at the cops. The chants of One Arthur Scargill may have wound them up as well. On top of that add 3000 very drunk fans into an end that holds 2000 and hey presto. IIRC there was also the issue of bringing in the horses

That was one of my favourite away games I have ever been to, awesome atmosphere, got my pic on the back of the Adver as well that day.

Pretty sure that was the first away game I ever drove my car to, I only passed my test a few months earlier.
