Replacement for Clarke perhaps?

Replacement for Cody McDonald.

Which games did you watch him in Reg? I watched him against the scum and saw enough to back him to be top scorer in the league. Ok we all know how badly it went pear shaped but I'd be surprised if his record since leaving us could be bettered by many, let alone any realistic targets.

FWIW I don't think we'll get him but if we do the fans will take to him if he runs (a bit) and most importantly sticks the ball in the net. We're a fickle lot.

Surely not because he fell out with Di Canio? He was just the first in a very long line. Any legitimate reasons?

....because he's lazy with a poor attitude and that's followed him through out his career.
For what it's worth, Di Canio was in the right on this occasion.

I was disappointed it all went wrong with Clarke. I really thought, from bits I saw and from reports I read, that he was a damn good buy. If he has a bad attitude, a good motivator would be needed get him on the right track. Maybe Cooper is that man?

From what I remember, Clarke is a big lad. Thomas on the other hand is only 5ft 10in. Surely we want a big 6ft plus Chief like player?

I reckon Clarke might be good in the load striker role - and linking with a 2nd striker with a bit of pace. I can't see it happening though.

How do you know this, all I saw was a player having an argument with a coach (which we couldn't hear) then trying to walk past his manager who grabs him, then speaks to him, then grabs his shirt and him round the neck. I am not in anyway saying that Clarke was rigjht but frankly if my manager did that to me I would be a tad peeved.

We all believed Paolo's version at the time which he repeated verbatim (did Clarke ever officially comment) as we loved him and he could do no wrong to many, Clarke was not a great trainer had no loyalty and passion for the club and thus he should be bombed out.

However as subsequent events have shown Paolo was equally lacking in these matters which he loved to use as an excuse for his actions, therefore I am less inclined to believe his version anymore.

The fact that Clarke has gone on to score a shed loads of goals means that good trainer or not if he came here it would be a fresh start as far as I am concerned.

All the league games he played for us and Soton game...and then last season when he was playing for Scunthorpe, looked no different. To be a lone striker you need to be a workaholic player with clever movement...just being able to stick it in the onion bag is a useful commodity, but explains why players like say Darren Bent haven't had more caps or played for the bigger clubs

Fair enough. I just see things differently. Don't particularly like him as a player but always looked a handful to me (both when he played for us and since he's left). The added bonus of goals show that he has something about him.

Do agree with you in general on the loan striker attributes. The best player i saw play it was Nicky Forster at Reading about 10 years ago (at least). I thought he'd be useless at it but was the exact opposite.

Not sure Darren Bent is the best example. Think he's got got to about as high in the game (if not higher) than as his ability dictated he should but see where you're coming from.

This was the only statement that Leon Clarke made:

"The incident on the 30 August 2011 between myself, the fitness coach and the manager was unfortunate and should have been avoided at all costs," Clarke said.

"However, I believe the subsequent comments made by Mr Di Canio are not a true reflection of what occurred. The personal comments made by Mr Di Canio about myself are denied.

"I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to the fans, my team-mates, the chairman and board of directors at Swindon FC for the inconvenience and embarrassment this issue has caused.

"I remain a Swindon FC player and wish the club all the success in the forthcoming season, however, I am looking forward to proving myself as a Chesterfield FC player.

"I now consider this matter to be closed and have nothing further to add."

Since leaving Swindon he's scored 29 goals in 52 games. Lazy or not, he scores goals.

My hope is that if he does come back here he gets his head down and had a desire to prove the doubters wrong. If he does that, he could what we need. Bit of a gamble however.

Behave, no he didn't. He put his arm over his shoulder.

I think PDC is a right proper cunt for some of his actions but that falling out was all Clarke's doing.

I'd still have him (Clarke) back though.

My millwall supporting mate tells me that N'Gussean is universally hated by millwall fans, runs quick but can't finish his dinner on more than one occasion

So not him please
