Whilst this is more than a bit worrying, it's when the Banbury players start signing that I really will be concerned. In fact, no....I'm pretty bloody concerned that this is one of the most inexplicable signings we've made in twenty years.

I find totally useless players quite fun.

Looks like I may have a good season!

It's June

Only for a couple more days  Wink

I'm not sure at what point I'll start to feel concerned/excited.  At the moment I'm decidedly uninterested in anything that's going on, not like me at all.

When you support a lower league team, it's necessary to have a sense of humour and comically bad players have always provided plenty of material...

Paul Bodin was released by Chelsea as a schoolboy, and, other than a couple of seasons at Cardiff, had bumped around at a load of shit clubs before he signed for us. (And Cardiff were pretty shit back then anyway).

In the 3 years immediately prior to coming to Swindon he played for the mighty Merthyr Tydfil, Bath City, and had just signed for, and played a whole 6 games for Newport County.

Ok we all laughed when Ossie justified selling Phil King by saying that Bod was "technically a better player", but the little fellah turned out to be right.

I'm a bit sick of people getting on their high horse about signing players from shit clubs. Some dick was outraged about us potentially signing someone that had played for Mansfield yesterday (not being able to tell the difference between a shitty one-horse town in Cheshire, and a shitty one-horse town in Nottingham), making it clear just how short term his association with the club has been, and how little he gives a fuck about its history.

Macari shopped at those shitty little clubs all the time, and the club would have been a lot poorer without Calderwood, Bodin and the rest.

People are just finding it hard to de-tox themselves after the player-fest that was PdC's transfer policy.

It is difficult to reconcile yourself to being just like everyone else again

Not a very good comparison....players like Bodin and Calderwood cost us a fee. We could get a tribunal to set an appropriate fee, based on wages paid, where we didn't reveal the true amount as that was made up by brown paper bag payments. This was one of the things that caused us to be demoted 2 leagues.

What we appear to be seeing is something like 1st season Macari, where he scratched around with what he had left over from Beamish, + himself, some of the kids from the youth team, some loans and a couple of punts from non-league, namely Peter Coyne and eventually Colin Gordon. When he was sacked in April, we were mid table in Div 4, finished 8th eventually. WE've not had a lower league position since, which suggests it's not a great recipe for success...still we're stuck with it.

Crowds that season were down to a couple of thousand as Town fans aren't very good at doing utter mediocrity.

It's June

When did it become ok to sign players with a track record of utter mediocrity because it's June? Do I have to wait a few more days to be concerned?

Yes, I knew we would be cutting back, but this much? We're a club with approaching 5k season ticket holders and no debt, offering a 2 year deal, supposedly, to Agombar. . It's gone full circle on here. If you point to the flaming obvious that we're being run by cowboys without two pennies, and signing rejects from League 2, you're shot down. Shall we just pretend it's all good?
