I think everyone recognises that Ferry has been a good player for us. He could have been better though, and some have a tendency to overrate him..

The guy stripped down to his pants on the pitch to celebrate promotion - what more do you people want?!  I know we've all seen it, but I think a link to the video is required to illustrate the point.

Ferry has done ok? Only ok? Rubbish...

3 seasons as a regular starter here has seen two league one play offs and a league two title...
He's a good player granted, but he requires a Douglas or McCormack beside him, to add that grit, Ferry can't tackle or shoot. He is however one of the best passers I've seen in this division. I think we should do all we can to keep him, but he needs the right player playing alongside him, him and Macca seem a decent pairing.

Let Miller leave at the end of the season, and use a percentage of that to keep Ferry away from the clutches of Franchise.

It's a false economy releasing players to save the difference between their wage and the wages of players that are materially worse. The ones we have are in demand and have a sale value. The others don't. The idea of releasing valuable assets for free is ridiculous.

Unless of course the club have to break the bank for new contracts of course.

All our players are on decent money.....to get them to sign new contracts will be tough when you are cutting the budget...not upping it.

I realise it's a slightly academic argument without the numbers to hand, but my point is that you in releasing McCormack, Flint, Ferry et al you wave goodbye to potentially a decent transfer fee which would outweigh any initial extra expenditure on wages.

Totally agree...but the Ritchie sale has shown us what to expect in my view.

The only chance we have of keeping these players is to go up...if we dont i expect a fairly large clearout.

To say Thompson is better than Caddis is,to me,a ridiculous statement.May prove to be so in the future, but now,no!

You do have a bit of previous on underestimating Thompson though.

Honestly I dont think Nathan Thompson should be anywhere near the first eleven.

Sadly that's how midfielders work these days. One plays one role, so other plays the other.

Gone or the days when players like Patrick Vieira could tackle and do the gritty stuff, pass the ball and go on a lung busting run and smash it in the top corner from 20 yards.
