I think people are lacking the understanding of our model - we’re not hiring fine cut diamonds, we’re identifying rocks that, based on the data, suggests they could be diamonds capable of being polished - they will have flaws because that’s the nature of the level we are at but to right them off before the polishing has begun is mental….

Naturally though, there will be some hits and some misses. We obviously want as many hits as possible, but almost guaranteed some will be absolutely useless. |

Gamble other clubs have got it wrong, initially based on stats. Thankfully we aren't solely loading the squad with such players. Rightly so. The development players need time without first team pressure from day one. And there are first team pressures to perform. Always have been. Always will. Again, rightly so. |
