Wickham I'm pretty sure turned down Northern Ireland in his early career due to ambitions of playing for England.

Would struggle to get a game now as they have a fair few Championship strikers. Will Grigg doesn't even get picked who has ironically just been signed by Franchise who realised Wickham.

Still, having said that, you'd still hope there is enough there that at 29 and with in League Two we could rehabilitate his career somewhat. You do worry how his career has slided though.

Christ, if he’s demanding more than we can afford he’s got his sights set a little too high.

44 goals in 234 games
Most goals in a season; 9 back in 2011….

The same amount as Davison scored for us in half a season and most (not all) turned their noses up at the thought of him coming back.

Connor Wickham is another Cherno Samba....early in his career tipped for great things but has never got near those heights and nearing 30 its debatable that he ever will.

He is exactly the type of player that we should be going after though, tall, strong and 1 goal every 5 games in his career. He failed in L1 with MKD last season and only 11 goals in the last 8 seasons coming to us could reignite his career.

Apparently Reading fans werent very impressed with him in his trail games and I understand he has now left Reading after failing to win a contract.

This one is a definate "could be" and I would be impressed if we could bag him but I expect a club in L1 like Rovers or Pompey will probably sign him.

Yes hes only had half a season in L1 with MKD otherwise hes never played lower than the Championship, and most of those games were as sub.

What’s happened to the rumour of Hepburn-Murphy?  Seems to be a better bet.

Yeah. You have to worry that with Wickham we'd just be the last in a long line of clubs taking a chance on him due to his early promise and that he is completely shot.

Our Sports Science Team may need to work overtime if we make this signing.

He's been doing some recuperation with our club chiropractor who has been putting in many positive words about STFC to him!

Even shitter when you look at his record since he joined Palace in 2015 where it's just about a goal a season.

Rather we signed Adam Johnson if I'm honest.
