Don’t think it made sense getting out of the embargo mid season when restrictions were being lifted end of season.
Yeah it probably would of helped, but end of day that team was strong enough to get promoted.
Zero excuses this season though, Lindsey and co need to be backed and we need a really strong finish to the window. Think we’re 8/9 bodies short at the moment. 3 defenders (right back and centre halves) 2 or 3 centre midfielders, ideally some steel and someone nasty. Then obviously the attack needs strengthening.

I can’t see us bringing in 8/9 people. Even 5 and I think you will lucky. I expect 2/3 from here. Whether they will be at that standard to blow your socks off is another matter.

we need 2 x strikers, rb, probably another CB, midfielder (Payne or Ronan), I'd like a midfield enforcer but that seems unlikely
4 or 5 seems at least realistic in need.
But absolutely no rumours on anyone whatsoever!

You know that this is a good sign, right?

Yeah, well probably.
But we usually have some rumours to discuss. Even crap ones. This is the transfer rumours thread.

I've heard Jenny Pitman is looking to invest. Riding back into Town with all the "residuals" that Tony Tucker ran off with after selling the knob jockey a three legged horse for all the Luongo money!
Her main condition? No not scoliosis but her Granddaughter must play every week to maintain cash flow whilst becoming the first female to be signed to a professional mens side!

Things could be worse, you could have Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill on trial like Reading.

Oh yeah, what we need and what we actually get are two very different things in football.

Tbh, if Payne signs and McGirty and Reed stay we’re hardly much weaker than last season. Keeper situation is fine, we didn’t want to keep Conroy and AK was a bit part player. Think Minturn could be a player this season.
It’s that striker we desperately need - just like most other clubs.

Agree, and with the right backing, the team could/should be stronger. What killed us last season though was the players not in the starting XI, squad was way too weak and I’d say the general feeling so far is likes of Massey, Wakeling, Devine are of a similar mound to East, Mitchell Lawson, parsons etc.

We've kept a decent core. The replacements for the departed are an unknown quantity. The squad to me looks weaker. We will be getting more players in.
Is anybody going to Woking tomorrow to trialist spot?

Ha. He was not very good and also a real twonk off the pitch. I even took to twitter one day to make a point about something and his reply was to say something derogatory about my wife. (think it was off the cuff as my twitter profile pics just have me in them) Not long after he came off twitter, I guess he was getting sick of the abuse - it wasn't long after the issues with the shisha pipe thing.

I've been looking around general league 1 and league 2 forums and we definitely are not the only club that still have business to do. Exeter and Oxford haven't signed anyone yet and Pompey fans are concerned at their lack of business also. In our league apparently Gillingham are in the same boat as Pompey and Mansfield have only brought in 2 players. Walsall have brought in plenty of players, but on paper they don't look great and their manager has had a moan in the press that they are being blown out of the water money wise for strikers by other clubs. On the flip side, Bradford and Northampton have done some good business and look set for the season already. Bradford's marquee striker signing was Vadaine Oliver from the Gills for example. I suspect he'll be on a decent wage there. If last season didn't teach me anything it's that we will almost certainly use the full time the transfer window allows. We are clearly about half a dozen players short which I hope are in place by the Eastleigh or Cardiff friendlies at the latest. We will then likely pad out the side with loans from premier league sides. They tend to be later in the day historically.
