Is McKirdy an out and out striker or more of a winger?
He is more of a winger than a striker, predominantly right footed but likes to drift wide left. Has played as a striker but he seems to be more of a drift anywhere wide man style of play.

It would be brilliant to see Gladwin do well in his latest stint at STFC. However, as a wildly speculating supporter, I fear that time and injuries are likely to have taken their toll.
How come he's not on trial then like Grant

Put the band back together Hell yeah, we could do worse. If they're free agents fuck it, we're in league 2 staring at the abyss of non league. Still remember those boys running rings around a lot of teams in L1, real high point of my Swindon supporting life (even if a lot of our fans would scream FORWARD!!! and start grumbling when we were 2-0 up and happily in possession...) At times over the past few weeks I've felt doom and gloom, like it could all be over by the next news update, but having read some of Clem's relatively grounded ideals for the club, seeing the new CEO get elected, and all the behind the scenes issues starting to resolve themselves, Gladwin coming back seems like a nostalgic reminder of how it could be again... Of course this is Swindon so god knows how badly we could fuck it up.

But this is the new Swindon. Although, channeling my inner Reg for a moment - slight concern could be the lack of experience in the management set up. New owner, new CEO. Don't get me wrong completely happy about the appointments. I'm hoping running a football club is similar enough to working at a senior level in a Building Society that all the skills required are transferable. Does the DOF have much experience at this football club running malarkey I can't remember?

I think people have to get over the lack of experience of running a football club. It’s about the ability to plan / implement change / deal with people and make decisions. What we have is infinitely better than anything we’ve had for a decade, and better than the vast majority of football clubs with egotistical owners who think they’ll dabble.

This We've been run so badly for so long with just the odd blip of professionalism. If you have good structures, plans, culture, people and infrastructure in place and all working to the same goals then you give yourself the best chance of maximising what you have.

I have always felt that as a club in a town the size of Swindon we have punched well below our weight. Even when we gained promotion to the PL that success was built on sand, like the power reign, slightly different but same outcome. From Macari onwards there didn’t seem a long term plan, other than get promoted and maybe the managers we blooded and if I’m honest I think we got lucky there. It was as if they woke up one morning and found themselves in the PL and thought Fuck Me! Glenn fucked off and like most at the time I thought he was a cunt but he saw what we really were made of and had designs on greatness that ‘lowly’ Swindon could never achieve for him. The board panicked and appointed lovely John Gorman, nice bloke, good coach, not a natural leader and manager. Since then we’ve had a succession of owners who’s only long term strategy was to see how long they could keep the plates spinning while sucking as much out of the club as they could before the plates fell on the floor. Don’t get me wrong I’m aware that we have had some truly genuine die hard ‘Swindon People’ at the club who’s names I know some of you could rattle off with ease. I’m not out to denigrate these individuals, merely highlighting that for all the positive good old boys we had, we’ve never really had a long term cohesive plan to get us where should be, a sustainable championship club with a half decent stadium that is family friendly and well run. Well now we appear to be on the cusp of having that structure and the people to do it, say what they are going to do and do it. Some of you seem to know or know of the new CEO and looking at the comments on other social media platforms this guy is really highly thought of and knows his onions. This got me thinking over the last few days, what’s in it for Clem? Which others have said too. Interestingly it would appear that my synopsis of the Swan was correct in as much as working behind the scenes with our new CEO for some undetermined amount of time. I may be sticking my head on a block here but I cannot help thinking that his initial cash input was and I use this term very, very lightly for ‘a bit of a laugh’, where have we heard that before? I have no doubt about his sincerity but think the initial input was to genuinely get involved with a league club but at some point friendships and business relationships developed with certain people (certainly in the trust) in tandem with Power slowly showing his true colours and intentions and that is where things got serious, deadly serious and Power was always on the back foot and slowly but surely hanging himself by his own petard. And we are where we are now. With an owner who fully understands what it is to be a Swindon fan and also has a handle on what we’ve been through over the years and who himself nearly became a victim of the rot and decay that has infested our great club for to long. The two guys at the top, one providing the money (with in reason) and one providing the structure and direction which to jointly propel us to that ultimate goal. Sustainability in the championship with a stadium to be proud of, given time. Collectively we appear to have all won the lottery in footballing terms at our level.

I don't know why it amused me so, but somebody using the phrase 'the club squashed rumours of a return' made me wince. I was always more of a Kia-Ora man myself

I completely agree. The culture is critical and the signs are so positive part of me is in absolute dreamland compared to where we were a few weeks ago. Just think we all, as a fan base, need to get behind them and understand that not everything will work out from the start. We need to get behind Clem and make sure as much as we can, that owning a football club doesn't turn out to be a complete ballache for him.
