Depends if the club have rates with the hotel, I believe they use the Devere
There could be something in that and maybe the club are paying for his overnight stay in which case his name would be on a list and easy access to Calne for training tomorrow😁

There’s a group of strikers that *appear* (based on nothing but heresay) to be available at our level: Norwood, Sam Winnall, Pitman, Jordy Hiwula, Humphrys, maybe Will Grigg.
But there are clubs who have had windfalls recently, that can probably higher transfer fees and wages, and all seem to be after a striker. Oxford have put a bid in today for a striker who they believe is “as good as it gets” at this level. Rochdale supposedly had a bid rejected for Humprhys yesterday. Bristol Rovers have the Clarke-Harris money, Oxford have the Dickie money. We’ve not, so we’ll likely miss out on the better ones, unless they are prepared to get paid less, in exchange for Wellens “doing a Doyle” on them.
All in all, I’d be up for is going for an comparative unknown who we think we can turn into the next Ivan Toney and make is a packet. With a manager like this, Power has to realise investing in a striker in their early 20s could earn the club a lot of money - just like we’ve done with Jaiyesimi. We need to buy someone, not another loan.

Potentially a great signing, and OOC so no fee. Probably a few games off match fitness, even if he’s looked after himself since Pompey shafted him. Same age as Doyle, so maybe not too many years left, but no location issues like Doyle whose family in Ireland were obviously a big issue. Let’s wait and see, then!

I take your point, and it’s true that Town will struggle to compete financially with other clubs. But, and it’s a big but, the Wellens factor may be worth an awful lot. Doyle made a big thing of how much he enjoyed playing in Wellens’ team, and my God didn’t he show it - he played every game with a schoolboy grin on his face, and at his age having a golden season must have felt incredible. Potentially, that is Town’s trump card - how do you put a value on a player getting the chance to net a bagful of goals? The other teams don’t have quite the same recent reputation, so I wouldn’t put it past Power and Wellens to dangle some sort of success-related deal in front of Pitman, or Norwood, or whoever. We have the team structure in place to serve up chance after chance in almost every game. A young emerging striker would potentially be a good investment, but would also be an unknown quantity, and could be a total flop. I think we have to trust the management’s instincts on this one.

It comes down to what Power wants to spend but he must be mindful if we are to do anything we need a decent striker as that lot up the A420 already have Matty Taylor and are looking to spend more so it's going to be a tough season once you throw the likes of Sunderland, Hull, Pompey & Peterbrough etc in the mix

If he gave his name as Mr B Pitman would that have meant anything to her🤔
It may have if he had a representative from ST with him. Booking him in under the clubs account. Or the club phoning or emailing ahead the booking.

Equally, we have our first competitive game on Saturday and no recognised striker as such. At what point in time tomorrow do the club have to register a player to play on Saturday? 😉 Expect the unexpected tomorrow.

I’m thinking an out and out striker, like Doyle. However you dress it up, I’m half expecting someone in tomorrow to be eligible to play on Saturday who can score goals. If not, so what. He’ll get what he wants sooner or later and RW is a winner going places and as I posted the other day the first round if the League cup is a serious competition and he’ll want the best team out there he can field. If not repeat that for the Saturday after when the season starts. I really do see parallels to Sir Alex in young Mr. Wellens. Someone mentioned earlier about his willingness to engage in comms in different media. Sir Alex used to drive round the streets of Aberdeen with a megaphone encouraging people to Pittodrie.
