The QAS of 99/00  had the likes of Mark McCammon, Michael Meaker and Wayne Gray on loan.....all terrible, + a collection of youth teamers nowhere near ready for second tier football. However Quinny also got in Michael Carrick, arguably in the top 5 English players of the 21st century.

The previous season....had some stumers.....Neale Fenn, Des Linton and Shayne Bradley.

I wonder if Carrick has ever played behind a less potent front two than Jimmy Quinn and Alan Young (which I think he did at home to norwich on a Friday night.) Makes Obika and Norris look positively threatening.

Don't think that ever happened....the Norwich game was Hay and Iffy.  He did have Charlie Griffin in front of him at Maine Road, which probably wasn't much fun.

Just by goal ratio to games he looks a good player, signed for Barnsley but obviously didn't work out so went back to Cambridge after 1 season...... This rumour might have legs as they say

Steve Berry had an interesting STFC career....10 starts in all comps, but only against 6 different teams.

He's also only 5ft9 so would fit in well to our midfield. 😉

I would be very happy if we resurrected the player manager role which has served us well in the past and Michael Carrick filled the role.

Its now 1206 and nothing on this thread in terms of rumours today...... no scarves above heads, no Steve Lomas, nothing!

Don't think I will be going to Bolton in the absence of any sock blowing offage!

I would have thought that Power, Sherwood would have been working on transfers early on when Timmy came in, so I am surprised that they have not got a couple in early knowing we are in desperate need, and with the QPR duo returning you would again imagine they knew about this a week or so ago, so again would hope they may have others lined up.

Let's hope we don't get to 31 Jan wondering how many we will sign at 2359
