Sleep easily, for I stalketh not...but I am an afficionado of bits of local antique street furniture, and have long admired the milestone.  

   I recall seeing you in the Adver, mounting a campaign to save the aforementioned stone.

 As a kid there was one near where I lived , but it was completely devoid of any lettering.   It may still be there.

Ah, yes I remember now. Although IIRC we were more bandwagonning than mounting .... That's a relief, cheers Reg, I had visions of looking out the bedroom window and seeing this fleeting but strangely knowledgeable silhouette in the street - like an encyclopedic Swindonian Micheal Myers
