If I didn't buy red wine and Activia yoghurts my shopping would be so much cheaper but I can't seem to sacrifice those things. I love Avocado and apricots too so doesn't help the bill.

im sorry but £7.50 for a week? I must blow £50 - £80 a week.  Cant eat frozen anymore, quite frankly started thinking about the shit I put in my body.  Since the turn of the year ive eat relatively healthy and feel much better for it

i'v never eaten more healthy than i do at uni.
dont buy anything in the frozen section (except peas and sweetcorn) and can honestly say i havent had a ready meal once since iv been here.
my uncle assures me that i could knock a few quid off the £7.50 with a load of lentils - that i could make into dahl- but i hate the wee bastards.

There are lots of pulses, that are decent cheap eating, if you can get a bit organised and have a bit of time.....chick peas...for making bad ass felafel.  Aduki beans anything that uses mince.   Butter beans for lobbing in stuffed vegetables....lentils or mung beans for dal.  Dried  peas for making thick soup. Mousaka, using kidney beans or borlotti beans.  All cheap....make you fart a lot though.

My wife likes butternut squash.  I do not trust it, as it is not butter, nor nut, nor squash.

My mum makes an ace Spicey Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash soup. Tasty as fuck and ace and chunky. I might have to steal the recipe.

they're great for mash - nice change from potato. and apparently they're a more complex carbohydrate so better for you. like wholemeal bread rather than white.

Same here!!

My shopping usually comes to about £20 for the week. Would probably be more like £15 if I didn't live in a place like Holborn, but I'm sure I could cut it down more. I don't buy too many ready meals though. In fact I had hardly any before I started revising pretty much every day
