Did anyone else spot this - For the whole of the second half Leeds played Beckford right on the left touch line with the Minge occasionally marking him - when he wasn't getting shouted at to get back in the middle with the other 18 players.  Now the Minge had a great game but is not going to win anything in the air against Beckford and would struggle to beat him for pace.    I kept waiting for this situation to be sorted out but it wasn't even when McGovern came on. Fortunately Leeds couldn't find one decent diagonal pass (much to Beckford's disgust) but it was a bloody good job they didn't.

FWIW my feeling is that the fans, having had to put up with shit for so long,  thought that the arrival of Fitton and his chosen new boss would herald a new beginning with something to get us excited.   The players wouldn't be able to use the excuse of not being paid, and backroom instability to justify lack of commitment.

For two or three weeks there was a bit of evidence of this feel good factor, but that was it and rapidly back to dross...or even absolute dross.

I think fans find this particularly hard to accept....we've had a high, and now the comedown is a real cold turkey.

We've got our Swindon back....same as the old Swindon....mediocre uncommited players, and crap cup exits without any fight.

I agree Reg. And for that reason in a strange kind of way i'm actually looking forward to tomorrow's game.

But at least we're not going bust!

Give it time, I think under the guidance of Fitton, Wray and co we will have a successful football club for our size. Things don't happen overnight!!

Dell boy I was giving paynter loads of shit a month ago, he looks a different player now. His touch has imporoved and he has upped his work rate. fair play to him.

If he keeps playing like he is now, then goals will come, particually as there were some really positive signs of him forming a good partnership with cox on saturday.

Please never mention that game again. The (onfield) lowlight of the season by an absolute mile, made worse by the subsequent run of the Gas all the way to the quarter finals via a very favourable draw. I'd rather watch 10 Walsalls back-to-back than another Barnet.[/url]

I'm thoroughly pissed off with limp cup exits to lower div sides...as you rightly point out Rovers have benefitted because of our ineptitude, and they are now in a position to repeat their last seasons late run for the PO's.

When saying he wanted a manager with proven record, did Fitton approach Rovers about talking to Trollope? If not, why not?

With regards to Swansea, of more significance is that Martinez' predecessor Jackett, had a history of failure with Watford, which he carried on with Swansea, despite a lot of advantages. and is now carrying on with Millwall.

Malpas, like it or not has a history of failure with Motherwell.

It's true he had a rough time at Motherwell, time will show if he will be a failure here........................

9 games, imho, isn't enough time.

I vaguely remember Colins avatar this morning and put it down to having just woken-up (Really, I thought my eyes where playing tricks on me).

But then I noticed it again and decided that I am not seeing things but somebody is trying to sublimanally tell me something.

Still nowhere near as distracting as "Bob's Orange's" avatar though.

Didn't he post something the other day along the lines of "I'm resigning my membership on Monday"...?
