3 nice courses there.

Ogbourne Downs is a relatively challenging course because of how it's set up - on the downs - and you've very really got a flat stance on the course, and the clubhouse isn't great. I understand they've still got the dreaded winter tee's in play.

Erlestoke's a bit out in the sticks but probably the best maintained course, the most interesting and whilst challenging, not unplayable like Ogbourne on a wet and windy day. Best clubhouse and restaurant out of the 3 too. On the downside the staff are few and far between now they've lost alot of members and not very helpful.

I love Marlborough GC. It's def the shortest of the 3, but it's always very green and pretty well looked after. Flexible as well, you can just turn up most days. They're well geared at looking after groups as well so you'll have a good laugh, it's pretty laid back in the bar. The first hole is a short straight par 5 so everyone could get off to a good start! Certainly the easiest course of the 3, this will sound arrogant but if I played there every week I'd be playing off 2 or scratch.

I'd therefore have to say Marlborough - best for off-course and the best course to play for the higher 'cappers.

Sorry to go on mate, hope that's useful!

Woodbridge Park, arriba, it's still generally too soggy but the greens are massively improved. On the old astro shit, I was about a 12 or 12 HC and you couldn't stop the ball even hitting lob wedge or something. Dirt cheap though.

Oh, Fog - if you've got a bit of a budget and really want to impress, go to Bowood.

I think they're doing a round on the championship course and dinner for about 40 notes a head in April if you get in early enough, and I'd honestly say thats the best course in Wiltshire by miles.

David I've lived behind two seperate golf courses but never felt the urge to play the game.

The appeal just isn't there can you sell the sport to me and I may go and have a lesson.

Daz, there's no better feeling than slapping a mid-iron to within a couple of inches in any sport.

I certainly golf is a love it or hate it thing, I'm quite competitive and and the idea of golf is you can improve your game and have the proof in your handicap, which i like. A prefect excuse for 4 or 5 hours outdoors on a nice day, it's not over-exerting, and of course when you're playing with mates there's loads of banter and pisstaking.

Oh, and golf etiquette dictates you're obliged to drain a few beers post-round.  Cool

You'll probably think it's shit to start with but stick with it.
