Beckham should be denied his 100th cap as a lesson to younger players about selling out for easy money at a less competitive level.

Out of context you tart if you want to post my comment post the whole thing not just one line.

At the end of the day he deserves his 100th cap more than most players who have represented their country.

Beckham deserves his 100th cap this should be at Wembley - gone past his sell by date, probably maybe definitely - this has nothing to do with his ability to be in the current side - this is about an ambassador for English football and any English fan could never fault that.

Beckham deserves that 100th appearance, always fully committed for his country, why do people knock him, I take my hat off to him.

OK-if you cant take a joke although I dont think it makes any difference

Fuck sentiment, it's Capello's first game in charge he has picked a squad based on merit and that is how it should always be. What precident would it send to other players picking an unfit Beckham. By doing things his way and ignoring sentiment might also sort out the Lampard/Gerrard fiasco.

To get in the England squad you need to be fit and that should apply to every player whether it is their first cap or for their 100th. If you do it to him where does it stop, should every player who passes 80/90 caps get their 100th cap? Every single game you play for England should be because you are in on merit otherwise it makes stats such as 100 caps meaningless IMO. If at 99 games your no longer good enough to get on the pitch for England so be it, don't artificially create history!
