Two nominations each please, usual rules apply - no loans, minimum of 50 games.

for players who played in a variety of positions, please choose those you think that central defence/centre-half was their primary position.

Not seen Ifil play, so Calderwood and Taylor. Hands down.

I am sure Reg and his wrinklie consortium will give us some alternatives. Wasn't Harold Fleming a defender?

Yeah, I'd go along with calderwood and taylor.  Older fans will remember Mel Nurse, a welsh international and Ken McPherson (a defender in the Taylor mould).  Both worth a mention!

We have had shed loads of good central defenders...I know its not just 2 but here are a few to whet the appetite!

Jerel Ifil
ooh Shaun Taylor
Colin Calderwood
Billy Tucker
Steve Aizlewood
Kenny Stroud
Mike Graham
Jon Gittens

But it has to be Calderwood and Taylor for me if I had to choose.

brian borrows and ian culverhouse

both were more sweepers than traditional centre halves and they were both superb with the ball at their feet. really enjoyed watching them play in their respective spells at the club
