Unfortunately we have no "ace" players at the moment.  I find it difficult to get enthusiastic about our current crop of players.

If I met a City or Rovers fan I think I'd have a hard time bigging up one of our players.  They're alright but I wouldn't refuse a decent bid for any of them.

Oh maybe Brezovan is possibly the closest to a current player I could give a decent write up to.

Not really he's good enough for this league but makes too many mistakes for the level above and in my book you need to be a comfortable player in the Championship to be classified as very good or ace.

By that logic aren't our last two "proven" v.good/ace players Cureton and Howard? What with it turning out Parkin was really a bit injury prone and shit.

To be honest I think Brian Howard has turned into a pretty decent player.  In his first season here it was obvious he was a decent footballer.

Cureton never got the service here, any striker would have struggled in that team.

Absolutely spot on fella. Yes he missed a few ie Yeovil but he scored some vital goals aswell. A striker needs service, if he gets the service he'll score goals.

As for Howard, king played him out of the position. A good manager will get the best out of players, King didn't do this.

Corr is a far better player than Fallon. Look at his link up. Far superior.

When I think of Fallon I think thats a lot of goals for not very many points. He didnt set many goals up and the team never played good football when he was up front.

Having said all that, he did work his arse off to be the best player he could be for us and you have to respect that.

Funny how Curetons form deserted him in early march of our relegation season. Think his agent might have reminded him of that get out clause. He was crap anyway, played well in january and february and thats it.

Whats annoying about this team is that they are in touching distance of being a really really good unit. But theres always something getting in the way - injures, suspensions, off field problems.

.

Several players did note this to Iffy apparently but Iffy refused to drop him as he is a "natural goalscorer"

In retrospect was Fallon the best bit of business we've ever done ?

Selling your 14 goal top scorer and best player in the middle of a relegation battle....which we ultimately lost and got relegated to the bottom division for the first team in over 20 years.

Sounds Brilliant doesnt it

No doubt in  my mind, Cureton wanted us to get relegated and played a part.

He wanted to go to Colchester and played his arse off in January when the window was open. Minute it was closed, he was shit. Penalty at Hartlepool straight at the keeper, open goals at Yeovil and City.

He got what we wanted, he moved to Colchester and they didnt have to pay for him.
