Stilton cheese was never in fact made in Stilton....it was only ever sold there, in a pub on the Great North Road.. |

Every Xmas afternoon, I explore a pot of Stilton, & a bottle of Vintage Port. Now that IS heaven.

Reminds me I must clean the tasty yellow cheese meat off my teat warmer later on this evening.
Probably not one for the purists but I recently had a chilli strong mature cheddar. Just the right balance between the strong cheddar and quite a warm blast from the chillies without either being to overpowering. Definitely worth a try if you see it about.

The one I had was in a red wax and shaped like a pie although there are a few knocking about.
Tesco is always quite good for odd cheese I had an apricot one once, which was quite good.

Next time you're up that way, be sure to stop in at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar just outside Inverary to pick up one of their smoked cheeses. I stock up every time I visit. |
