i'm starting to think arriba has a point about our fans needing a scapegoat.

someone sat behind me was moaning about pook nearly all game. i can't be bothered arguing with people like that anymore, so i just cheered and gave pook support whenever he did something right. i never used to rate pook but he's improved considerably over the past 18 months and i think many of our fans are still living in the past.

he must be coming up for 100 appearances, no?

pook did get caught in possesion a couple of times today.but options were limited.he did alright overall i thought.they all did it at times today.
i hate it that he gets booed when his names read out,and every mistake is greeted with abuse.some of our so called fans are waiting for the mistakes just to have a go.
i would boo a player that doesn't give his all.pook aint in that catagory.we do have quite a high proportion of pricks that go to town games.

If I ever met Pooky I think I would tell him he's doing a decent job and that the people who boo him are total pricks. Been much better this season and is as worthy of a place in the side as anybody else there

Our fans have always been like it and it won't get any better. A lot of them deliberately look for reasons not to come, and a few on this forum are guilty. I can't believe the amount of "Oh if so and so becomes manager I'm not going anymore".

What kind of a fucking fan is that?

Didn't Macca do that and Pook told him to fuck off?  :?

In fairness though this has been done hugely with the protests etc and staying away for one reason or another is a supporters right. I've had a season ticket for in excess of 10 years but for example me personally I would struggle to support Martin Allen if he was appointed manager. I would find it hard to get behind such a vile little man and during his spell in charge I would probably lose some of the passion.
If you don't agree with something and feel you can't offer support as a result then that doesn't make you any more or less of a fan than anyone else.

i don't think i'd watch swindon if we appointed allen in all honesty.

i thought paynter was shocking today, he's got a chance to stake a claim again but he looked lazy and disinterested

on the subject of strange supporters, i can never understand why people clap someone who has just got himself sent off after just 20 minutes against the top of the table side.

I completely agree. Especially for such a petulant and spiteful retaliation (apparently)

To be honest SY, I'm less than impressed with Byrne's histrionics on the touchline. I don't recall Allen being much worse than that, I bet the opposition fans would have a pretty negative view of him.

Paynter always seems to be a "lumberer" but he made some good defensive challenges and was unlucky for their goal. He did play in a few unfamiliar positions as well. The next 3 games will be important for him, but i'd still like to see Corr/Paynter for a few games in harness (if we don't retain Cox of course)

paynter just needs a goal!

Even during the warm up he was dragging his shots wide and could see the frustration
