From a personal point of view I had nothing against Berti as an individual, he seems quite a timid fella so I couldn;t get to irate about him. I just think it was a very bad appointment by the SFA.
I'm one for thinking a national manager needs to understand the mentality of the players he's dealing with. Which is why, I think, Sven was unable to take england that one step further.
From a Scotland point of view I hope Martin O Neill doesn't get the england job, as I think he'd do well, as he knows what makes those players tick.

I agree janaage, if you don't understand the motivation of the players, you cannot get through to them. That what I think happened to Vogts, he was trying to use the German mentality on the Scottish team, which are contrasting styles and don't go.
As you said, the same was with Sven he did a good job but could take them on (I think mainly due to negative tactics after going in front).
Please don't see this as a dig at England but England need a manager who can control 'big time charlies', and get the best from them

We need to install the winning mentality at grass root and school levels again, all of the national teams are suffering from the "Winning is not important" bollocks that is being rammed down the kids throats by limp wristed liberals.For fuck sake winning is what it is all about! Lets get ruthless and start having some pride and passion.Personally i would give my left bollock to even have a sniff at representing my country. I dont really care who the FA put in charge as long as they give us something to cheer about and a team we can be proud of.
