Blimey this one has kicked off a bit hasnt it ....

At the end of the day the following is true .. (Cos i said it so there!)

Smith and Brez are both quality keepers .. Smith hasnt been shit he has been one of our better players .. is playing at the top of his form and is still (i think!) about 23/24. Brez has been rusty since his broken arm (prob a lack of confidence as well due to the injury) but is still a quality keeper .. give him time (I think Smith's injury will ensure he gets this). I think taking all things into account Brez on top form is the better keeper but is slightly older so long term maybe Smith will be better than him .. time will tell

Re Sturrock and Wise .. they are both excellent managers with their own unique styles .. you cant argue with their records.

To be fair to Wise his teams play a bit more football and I prefer him as a person to Sturrock (I dont blame him for leaving with what was going on and he stayed longer than he had to!).. BUT you cant argue with Sturrocks record on results and I think we have done pretty well so far even with the last 2 poor results. He annoys me a bit with his sticking up for the board but they are his employers I guess.

Re why Leeds are above us even with minus 15 points is mainly due to the fact they have crowds of 20.000 plus meaning more money for wages and bonuses ...

On another point ... I think people have got a bit personal about other people on here which is a but unkind as we all support Swindon at the end of the day .. and we should all be allowed our opinion even if it is the wrong one .. personal abuse is unacceptable and I feel some people have crossed over the line on this thread .. mods take note

there you go .. lock this one now!! arguments are over Wink

You prefer Wise as a person? Did I read that right?

Why on Earth would anybody hold that opinion..??

....and you prefer that to someone that said one thing one minute (questionning O'Hanlon's loyalty, wanting to build from the bottom up etc) and did the opposite the next -  to someone that hasn't jumped ship?

I'm sorry but with Smith i'm always waiting for his next mistake and if i'm honest Smith makes about 5 mistakes in one game!

Care to find any examples of these mistakes. Maybe the goal at Cheltenham, the 25 yard thunder bolt in the top corner. Smiths fault or maybe the Luton header

The fact is, this season Smith had only conceded 2 goals in ONE game, in the all the others its been 1 or 0.

Brezovan on the flip side has conceded 2+ in EVERY game apart from one he has played in. A fair few of which have been HIS fault

Quote
You can't expect, from two games, that Brez is gonna be brill he just needs a bit more time since Sturrock hasn't given him much match experience. I for one am very happy Brez is back and feel more comfortable and safer with him in goal!

two games, Brez has played what 5 first team games this season? conceded 2, 1, 3, 2 & 2.

I felt much safer with Phil Smith in goal and the stats this season back up the fact he is better in goal.

Quote from: "Toni"

Do you actually watch any of the games?! Phil Smith is shit and i'm adament that if Brezovan had have been in goal this season half of those goals that have gone past Smith Brez would have saved! But i'll be proven right when Brez goes to a premiership club and Phil Smith stays in league one cos he certainly isn't good enough for Championship or premiership football.

again, stop talking in opinions and use some fact. Tell me right now which goals Brez would have saved that Smith didnt. Tell me right now.

I will tell you this for free, saturday against Doncaster Phil Smith would have saved both goals.

Brez at the moment is a League One reserve goal keeper and Phil Smith is a first choice League One keeper who before injruy was on top of his game. Playing well and being very reliable in goal, how can you not see that?

Quote from: "Toni"

I could show you so many goals (if i had a video recorder to video them on) when Phil Smith has been at fault for them.

There are videos on the official site, on virgin media and on youtube. Do it, get some prove. Show me......go one fucking do it!

Quote
But i am gonna call all you idiotic for the simple fact you all think the sun shines out of Sturrocks ass and he's a shit manager! - FACT!!!!!!!!

Ah, the same Paul Sturrock that has what, 6 promotions under his belt and is regarded as some kind of God at every club he's been to bar Southampton.

The same Paul Sturrock that has taken over a League Two side, got them promoted and has change the squad and started well in League One. We're mid-table where as everyone was expecting us to be shit because we'd just come up. Sturrock is better than that,

His record totally speaks for itself and you dont even have the right to question him, he's that fucking good.

Quote
You'll do anything and believe anything he says cos you're gullible. And no Everton didn't sign Brez but they'll be back in for him in January. I will guarantee it!

Guarantee it, yeah fucking right - Everton didnt sign him because he wasnt good enough for them quite simple really

Quote
And Phil Smith has cost us games, not kept us in them or won them for us!

Which games? prove it. We've only lost what? two games with Phil Smith in goal. Yeovil and Swansea....so he could have only cost us a maximum of two games (which he hasnt) where as we've lost 4 games out of 5 with Brez in goal. So again, the record is clearly in Phil Smith favour.

We've lost the same amount of League Games with Brez in goal as we have with Phil Smith who has played 10 to Brez's 2.

Quote from: "Toni"

Thats why Dennis Wise is above us in the table is it? and thats after the 15 point deduction! Obviously proves who the better manager is.

ah yes the same Dennis Wise that has a better team, has spent more money....but also the same Dennis Wise that has NEVER won promotion and actually got Leeds relegated in the first place. Brilliant

Brez was very solid tonight and dealt with just about everything.

presumably this is other than when he nearly rugby tackled aljofree, kicked 2 million balls out of play with a huge slice, fumbled for the goal and dropped a piss easy long range shot at his toes.

Ummm did you actually go to the match, the ball got no where near his hands for the goal so was at no way to blame, the piss easy long range shot to his toes is actually standard practice for a keeper, you take the sting out of the shot and pick it up at the second attempt, you do this to take away the risk of it slipping through your fingers.. As for his kicking it wasn't fantastic but the majority were OK and he dealt with all the crosses today. I'd say slowly but surely as he builds his confidence again he is getting better.

I somehow don't think you know what your talking about.....

I don't but then I don't profess to be a goal keeping coach which you obviously are with your incredible shot-stopping insight  :|
