not kassam?? ex scummer and all that

As Kassam sold the scum in March '06 and Brevett didn't sign until September, I'd put a guess in at us being pretty safe on that front.

club wise it leaves QPR and West Ham really (can't seem Al Fayed giving up Fulham really).  But I can't see a foreign link and the people running those two clubs when he was with them should be steered carefully past swindon on the M4 on towards Bristol.

Wonder how happy Sturrock will be at having a Sporting Director dumped on him?

In your basic laymans terms right, a sporting director, directs sport.

Quote from: "luggy"

"Rufus seems a nice lad and has had a decent career in the game and I am sure will have some useful contacts which can hopefully benefit the club.

"He is keen to learn and is currently taking his coaching badges. He will also be helping out with scouting duties, but his primary role is to provide the contact between myself and the new owners. If I need a quick decision to be made then I can get in touch with him and he can facilitate that."

Which I guess makes sense if the new investor is foriegn.

Does this mean we are branching out and taking on an Athletics Club as well?  maybe a Darts team or we've taken over management for Stephen Lee's snooker career?

I thought that, whether or not Sturrock would be happy. But I don;t see Brevett's arrival as any threat to his own position. He has no managerial experience and if bringing brevett in is part of the package that means sturrock has money to spend. Today's signings smack of big money though - this investment is going to be interesting.

WTF is this all about.  And can someone, in very basic terms, explain the whole "this is a clue of who the new owner will be" as it means nothing to me.

He must know them quite well, and perhaps part of the consortium. Did McManaman do it recently?

I still think that the ex chairman of southampton has something to do with it perhaps?

Janaage - Rufus Brevett has been installed as sporting dirtector at the County Ground., On the official site it says he'll be the link between the management team and the new consortium - leading me to believe that he must know the consoritum guys pretty well to be their spokesperson with sturrock and co. Nothing groundbreaking, just putting two and two together.
