Racism was part and parcel of culture in the 70's.

Deal with it.

A fact that you've presumably gleaned from careful study of two series of Life on Mars I suppose.

Not really relevant though, as unlike Sam Tiler, Mr Manning had not been unexpectedly transported back to 1974. He lived through the 70's 80's 90's and saw in the millenium just like the rest of us. Just because the majority of TV footage of him is from "The Comedians" with him wearing some freaky wide lapelled suit, ruffled shirt and bow tie, doesn't mean he actually lived in a time warp.

He lived in the same world you and I did, saw the same things on TV, he doesn't got some "I'm a 70's comic of course I'm racist" get out of jail free card.

Really?
a) on what evidence do you base this statement?

b) Does that make it acceptable?

When did he say this?

I've already in this thread quoted the interview in which, when asked the direct question, he answered yes, and then went on to justify his answer explaining that he just didn't like some people, and didn't think they could consider themselves as English just because they were born here.

The answer was  given straight, it wasn't part of a routine, but simply stated his position.

If at other times when he felt under pressure from interviewers he recanted this then I've got even less respect for the man.

As for your frankly laughable "it was an act" line.
What sort of act would that be? Are you saying he adopted a racist personae to subtlely satirise racism ala Alf Garnett? If he did it was too fucking subtle for me, and the rest of the population of the world. Perhaps only you Arriba were smart enough to detect the levels of irony in his use of phrases like "useless bunch of fucking niggers".

Either that or you're arguing that although BM himself wasn't racist he was happy to tell jokes that encouraged other people to be racist. That he climbed off stage at the end of the night saying "well obviously I've nothing against our darker skinned cousins myself but you've got to give the nigger haters something to laugh about haven't you". Er......that would make him even more a cunt.

And no mate I didn't counter your argument about him donating to charity because as I said earlier in the thread I don't give a fuck.

He did a lot for charity, Hitler got the trains to run on time, the Kray twins were very good to their mother ...so fucking what..

Oh and did I call you a rude name 'cause you said something fucking idiotic.

I find it really fucking weird that you can be upset by me calling you a twat, whilst at the same time you can't understand why anybody should be upset by a comedian spending ten minutes of his act directing a stream of racial insults at them and ending it by pretending to shoot them.

You're a little twisted. You should get out more.
