Very true, a genuine bloke, who made jokes that perhaps were in bad taste but not racist.  I think the Sun today is running the headline 'RACIST IN PEACE'

The Sun really are a bunch of cunts...
He was a racist, but come on the bloke's only just cold and his family has to see that on every news stand in the country

Wankers

Its very harsh. But it is a little funny too.

As Manning once said "I tell jokes. You never take a joke seriously." I thought The Sun's headline was funny so have chosen to take his advice and not take it seriously.

I don't claimto know his family or friends, or BM himself but I should imagine that if he were told of this headline before his death he'd have had a laugh about it!

I just read somewhere that he hailed from a family of  Jewish immigrants...racist my arse.
Was Lenny Henry deemed racist for his Honkie Jibes in the 70's and 80's? Ermmmm....No!!!
And no...there is no punchline.

Yeah, it's ridiculous that people might think that Manning was a racist! especially with material like this....

“Where is he? How are you, baby? Having a night out with nice people? Isn’t this better than swinging from the trees? – You’re black, I’m white. Do you think colour makes a difference? You bet your bollocks it does!”

“They actually think they’re English because they are born here. That means if a dog’s born in a stable, it is horse.”

“They used to be happy people in the cotton fields, singing their bollocks off day and night. A fella used to go around with a whip… ‘Oh, massa, give us another crack of dat whip. I love dat whip’…”

“A Liverpool docker went to South Africa for a job. The boss tells him: ‘It’s people like you we want here. Here’s a test. There’s a revolver, go out and shoot 6 niggers and a rabbit.’ The docker asks: ‘Why do I have to shoot the rabbit?’ He got the job.”

I mean he had the courage to use that material in a room of 300 people and only one of them was black...what bravery.

That reminds me of MHWG's joke

"what do you call a black man flying a plane?"

"A pilot, you racist bastard!"

That's the point you see. The biggest joke of all is that people are actually discussing whether or not Bernard Manning was a racist...Of course he was a fucking racist! The thing is he didn't give a fuck who he offended and fair play to him for that. What makes me laugh is that people try to convince themselves that it's not racist because thay want to justify to themselves that it's okay to laugh. If you find something funny then laugh at it, don't analyse it. Jokes are jokes, don't let people try and tell you what's funny.

Personally I think he was fat unfunny cunt and couldn't give a toss that he's dead.

it's ok. he wasn't a racist because anyone born before 1965 can't help it.

In my experience that is kind of true. My granddad is completely racist against anyone who isn't English. I can remember hearing a tirade of abuse when I was a littlun' watching the Broom Cupboard on Children's BBC when Andi Peters was on it!

On a slightly different subject does anyone know if this has been aired on UK tv yet?

My nan's a little racist she'll come out with things like

"I was watching Rikki Lake the other day and do you know what?  There's so many darkies in the audience" she's not saying it's bad she just goes on about it.

then why on earth did he say my "anyone born before 1965 can't be racist" comment by saying it's true?
