....and still a couple of games in hand.

I regard this as good, at least peeps wont now think ohhhh its only Shrewsbury we should stuff them.

Reality is they're another of these teams we're catching on top form....winning would be majorly surprising and require a huge improvement of recent home form.

Losing would doubtless swell the Arkells numbers..and give Maverick an open goal.

On current form, we're more likely to draw or lose against the Shrews and beat Rochdale away.  I reckon these new players have arrived at the right time to gee everyone up.  We've yet to see Hartlepool have a bad run and it could be about to start.  Once they've lost once with Monky in the team the whole house of cards will come crashing down.

HPool had their bad run at the start of the season.....I'd say they're home and hosed.

Although the result at Lincoln was excellent, in the cold light of day they had lost 2 of their previous 3 at home to Mansfield and Hereford, suggestive of a certain vunerability....Shrews are on a long unbeaten run and on recent evidence v HPool and Stockport suggests we don't much like pooping parties..

But can't you be blindly optimistic and think it's about time we had another good run to match the first 6 games.  I think it might hinge on Corr, James or Grimes on Saturday - a bit of class we weren't expecting and the Shrews will be history.  But then I went to Man City in the cup a few years ago thinking we'd win and we got stuffed so I'm probably talking bollox.

I'm ignoring Reg's sensible postings in favour of blind optomism. 2-1 to us.

I of course reserve the right to rant and rage about how the useless lazy bar stewards don't deserve to wear the shirt and how they look like they could even blow the playoffs come 5pm on Saturday.

It's not an entirely bad thing that Shewsbury are doing quite well at the moment. It should mean that they will come out and have a bit of a go rather than just leave 10 men accross the back.

This will suit us with our new attacking options and I can see us winning 3-2 or 4-2.

It doesn't matter how Lincoln performed in their previous home games. That was a great result and performance. No ifs, no buts.

Ultimately, football is totally illogical and past results count for nothing. There was no way on earth Stockport should have lost 2-7 at home to Rochdale but it happened. Similarly, just because we lost 0-3 at Stockport doesn't mean we can't go to Rochdale and win.

We had no right to beat Wigan a few seasons back when they had not lost in 20 games and had won their previous 11 or something stupid. We shouldn't have had a cat in hell's chance at Charlton when they had won 18 in a row and we had lost a similar number. But beat them we did.

To sum up:
1. Past results count for nothing.
2. The optimist and the pessimist always end up in the same place, but the optimist has a better time getting there.

We do well against the sides doing alright - its like they need to expect to play at the top of their game to get anything out of it - the best thing Sturrock could do is build them up to be a massive task to beat over the next few days and make Roberts realise he'll have to break sweat for the second game running.

Still optimistic. We would've watched them last night and so we know where they're going right at the moment

We didn't just poop their party, we turned up uninvited, drank all their beer, ate all their food, left with all their girls and was rather smug about it.

Well at least i did that day!  Cheesy

Of course football is not totally illogical, it is just not completely logical.....past results reflect certain patterns of behaviour, chance and circumstances, which may explain certain outcomes.

In any given game its not predestined that there will be a certain outcome, its just more likely that the outcome will follow the pattern described by pevious games, if circumstances are roughly similar.
