...At the home of the Hi-bees, Easter Road, extended by a week.  John Collins reckons GS has a pretty decent left foot and gave him another 7 days to impress.

Don't do it John!!!

I was told that GS was "fucking useless" in training.   Which is why his first team opportunities were so few and far between.

John Collins say he has a decent left foot... He said nothing about his overall training ability. I would still render your source as accurate!

Surely you have to earn a place in the starting XI in training though? You can't expect to put in minimal effort in training and expect to play on  Saturday, surely?

at League 1 and 2 level you can't that's for sure.

I rated Smith. We could certainly do with a few of his goals from midfield right now that's for sure.

What does it matter if a player is crap in training as long as he is doing the business on the pitch???

Nothing in theory.

But the other players would take offence by this attitude and would therefore create a dressing room rift = Unnecessary hassle.

He was alright, good I thought, but he was never "that" good to be shit in training and waltz into the first team.  A player like Parkin could afford that liability, but not a "worker" like Smith.

If he was still a town player now, 'Grunt' Smith would be in his element in the blood and thunder that is league 2 football. I suspect he would have spent most of his time on the sidelines through suspension tho.....

Yes. I expect he does.

Right now he's probably saying to himself, "Oooooh, I feel such a cunt for leaving Swindon, that was the biggest mistake of my life" Cool

I also heard he was not a good trainer, but he done well most of the time for us and was able to put some good crosses in the box and score from midfield.

Hmm maybe someone should tip Sturrock off that Smith maybe a decent loan signing, and of course he would have something to prove here after the way he left.
