Post High Voltage festival and found it better than anticipated. Enjoyed ELP,Wishbone Ash and Bachman Turner and particularly was blown away by Joe Bonamassa of which I hadn't heard much of before, shit this bloke can play guitar! Sorry gknash your description of yourself fitted about 10,000 of however many were there, it would have been like finding a needle in a.....well.. field full of needles !

I had the shittest quietest bar, it was on the way between stages next to the bungee and dodgems (which was a joy as you can imagine).  Everyone just walked past it as there was no reason to stay around it.  We closed it at 3 o clock on sunday and I was back home in nam for 7.  Which was nice.

Was the whole thing undersubscribed ? Although for an event of that size it always is going to look like loads of people yet somehow it seemed half empty ?
Used the two bars either side of the main stage and the one by the prog rock stage, sadly didn't go into yours, although you may be relieved about that anyway !

Yeah I think the whole thing sold badly, but from what I understand they will still be doing it next year.  Its based on a festy they do in the states which is successful.  I think they realise that most festivals take 3 years to turn a profit so will keep going.

The point about using the bars by the stage was right on the money.  They didnt seem to realise that the type of people going are not going for a festival experience wandering around doing other things, the punters going were always going to just want to watch the music so my bar was unneccesary.  Lost me about £100 in wages but whatever, I was happy to get home.

That's a shame, if I'd have known you would have had our custom i.e. Me the Superior half (Mrs A) and my hollow legged mate who for a normal sized bloke has an unbelievable capacity for beer. He'd probably have got that minus figure down a good way on his own!

Big Ska festival this weekend in Buckingham, Buckinghamshire.

Boomtown Ska Festival, we are playing there on the main stage on Sunday supporting The Beat, Toots & the Maytals and Neville Staple, oh and the Wurzels!

If you love ska you will love this festival, the biggest ska festival in Europe.

No idea what the event is like, but the bowl is an ace place, especially if the weather is fine.

The bowl is an outside venue, here's a pic to give you a flavour

Fuck that takes me back. I can still remember having a very drunken summer afternoon there watching Teddy White and the Popular Boy Crooners / King Ringo Peach Bleachers more years ago than I care to think about.
