this is that band with the fat lesbian singer as a unique selling point, but their album "standing in the way of control" really is very good. anyone else got it?
well impressed.

It's such a pathetic attempt at a weak political statement that it's fucking laughable. :? Good album, some great tunes on there. Wish we could have the 'Sound & Vision' forum back :boohoo:

I like them too Beth Ditto has an amazing voice.Haven't got the album yet though. The fact that Leggett dislikes them just confirms they are a good band

Tried this today. The lead singer has a very strong and pleasant voice. The first couple of tracks sounded promising, but I felt that the songs overall were pretty weak. The album as a whole sounded like 'pub rock' demos to me. However, this was all on first listening. Will give it another try at some point.
NMH
P.S. Trying the following now: Muse - Black Holes & Revalations (First listen to 1st track - Sounds like Queen- NOT GOOD ! ) Bloc Party - A Weekend In The City (Tried 1st 2 tracks. Not as good as Silent Alarm so far) Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Some Loud Thunder (Not impressed with title track) Cooper Temple Clause - Make This Your Own (Not heard enough to have an opinion yet) The Good The Bad & The Queen - The Good The Bad & The Queen (Not a Daman Alban fan. Sounds a bit better on 2nd listen)

Cooper temple clause's new stuff is up there with the first album.

Just listening for the first time. I like the bassline on Satan Says Dance very much but am not keen on the abstract sounds added to the track. Also, the singer's voice is bloody awful !
I'm afraid I can't see this album getting much airtime near me !
