He's in for a surprise then.....

Looking at an AZ  fans website.....for those not knowing a great deal about Eredivisie, AZ are a small club who manage to challenge the big boys of Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV, it seems in the summer they weren't too pleqsed with Van Gaal and using babelfish, looks like this fan wanted Nijholt in as next manager

Van Gaal kicks... All ' nice and nice ', but a someone has already found feasable and better substitute? For me there are but three normal options: Jol Ten Cate rijkaard But yes, that seems me all not feasable. If someone ventures it soon with Foeke Booy on to shove to come, then I plead enthusiastically for the arrival of Luc Nijholt. P. Also Henk van Stee become then an option

 Wonder who Foeke Boy is?

Nijholt worked at AZ as  coach and assistant, which is a serious club....the Board should at least talk to him.

I wonder if he encourages his players to charge after someone they think has fouled them, and then scythe them down in retribution.

I very much hope so Amir. It should be openly encouraged.

I just remembered - He had a scrap once on the field with Terry Fenwick did he not? Tranmere away I believe, must have been 1994. Top notch.

This is a good point.....should be near the top of his CV for reasons for getting the job...sadly though the naff  goal celebration with Keith Scott, just about rules Luc out.

 Barry Hunter's Barmy Army

I always though Terry Fenwick was a cunt, even before he played for us.

Kudos to him for ruining Paul Warhursts career in front of the TE though with a blatant professional foul that somehow avoided even a booking if my memory serves me correctly

The thought occured to me when Warhurst pitched up with Barnet this season whether his mind went back to that.

Its also interesting looking at Telstar's home page, just how many backroom staff they have, despite onluy having a 3000 capacity ground which I doubt often gets filled.

I suppose you'd expect it in Dutch football, but not sure Luc could work in an environment like ours.

Great name Telstar....I wonder if they run out to Telstar by the Tornadoes, which would be   Cool

With the best will in the world, I'm not sure how many times Adie has been mentioned in the same sentence as Rijkaard. Appointing Nijholt would also mean a certain place i the team for Ashan 'Gullit' Holgate.

The main argument against Luc, would be lack of contacts in the English game, but how many would Adie have?

Yes, but I dare say he's loads of contacts in the Dutch game which, to be honest, is as good if not better!

That, of course could be an upside, but the Board would have to be very brave to go down this route of possibly transforming the club. You and I both know it ent going to happen, unless there are changes at the top.....maybe Nijholt might be interested in talking to the fans consortium.

Dutch players would also be willing to come and play here like a shot. Better pay at Swindon than many in the top divison of Holland as well as the chance to make a name for themselves in Engerland.

Do contacts matter so much when his budget for new players is unlikely to enable him to splash the cash? See what you mean, but so long as he's got a chief scout (Tuttle for instance)  or a member of the staff who knows the leagues he'll pick it up fairly quickly.

Not much in English about his managerial career - would be interesting to see what sort of football he plays etc, but I did find this:

AZ have dropped to third after picking up only a point from their last three games and have also changed their normal preparations with Jong AZ coach Luc Nijholt taking the final training session instead of Co Adriaanse.

Nijholt had his final exam for the course which allows him to become a head coach and needed to lead the first team's training.

``It's not the most ideal moment for this but we had no other possibility,'' said Adriaanse. ``Luc has analysed Utrecht for me and his training was a real good one.''

The examiners agreed and told Nijholt he had passed before lunch, and he will now see how the players respond to his session against Utrecht.

``It went well, a bit too good even,'' he said. ``For me the moment to do this doesn't matter, but I am extremely thankful to Co Adriaanse that he allowed me to do the training.

Co Adriaanse is a  top Dutch coach, the bit of evidence we're getting here makes it seem like Luc  could become a top coach as well.....think it was Rich Pullen who said a sort of STFC Martin Jol.

If he ever joined us (which I doubt because it's far too popular a choice!) I hope he brings the likes of Richmond Bossman, Willy Overtoom & Touvarno Pinas with him, for their names alone!
