I'm not over the moon at the thought of such an appointment, but am happier with Luc than other managers that have been mentioned.

everybody in....the board HAS to act fast on this one - it would be the most popular appointment going NOT because he's a blast from the past, but because of his record and his winning mentality - he was a midfield destroyer, he was a winner (albeit in a failing team!) and he'll make us play football!!
Think of a comparison over here...someoe who's done a great job coaching at youth and assistant level at a top flight club under a world class (arguably) manager like van Gaal, then gone on to do wonders for a smaller club.
To be honest, can't think of one. Is it too good to be true?

Change the avatars lads...even you Yeovil. You know you'll come round to it - his playing ability has nothing to do with it - what is does mean is that he's looked at the club because of his link to us whilst he might not have done if he hadn't played for us.
He's hard - he'll know theres certain things you have to do to get out of this league...i.e. stick the boot in when you need to
He can actually coach - THAT is proven - far more so than Adie. Yes, others may have experience, such as Sturrock (who'd i'd still be over the moon with) but the other applicants that you could probably guess at...Claridge, Rix et al, have only experience of failure.
Luc Nijholt does have a point to prove - he has ten years coaching experience yet has the hunger of a manager who's first appointment it is because he's unknown in England.
He'll know how to play football - van Gaal would have rubbed off - and to think that van Gaal rated him enough to appoint him screams out how good he must be.
Yes, his lack of knowledge of the lower leagues is a disadvantage, but I bet he'll learn fast. It didn't stop us appointing Ardiles did it.
