This is the water. And this is the well. Drink full and descend. The horse is the white of the eyes and dark within.

I guess most of the facts aren't public knowledge because MI5 don't want us to know yet. On the radio they say that no handbaggage will be allowed in the cabin (even mobile phones), it's all going in the hold.
If the threat is accurate they aren't taking any chances, rightly so. But I guess they aren't 100% sure the threat is over.
Sadly this kind of threat is now inevitable. It's questionable whether our foreign policy/war on terror has actully helped any. The world seems a much more unsafe place.

Bombs can be in any solution though its just so they are screened thoroughly like a suitcase and treated with extra care. The rules are a lot stricter regarding what items you are allowed on board, no liquids, electronic key fobs etc. bombs likely to be used in this kind of operation have to be manually activated and if all items are in the hold, they cannot be activated as easily or at all.

Does that mean no iPods, books, PSP's etc in-flight? Yes, they are stupidly strict on this today. Even baby milk has to be tasted by the accompanying passenger.

Also they are betting that detanating the device required human interaction. If the passenger physically can't get to the device to detanate it then it is safe.

Rightly however some of the regulations on medication in liquid form is a bit pedantic. Ie. has to be verified etc.
