i am being stupid but hasnt he just done a trial with reading?

I think thats another Aaron Brown. I remember reading it yesterday about some player also called Aaron Brown, playing for Reading in a friendly, but an injury forced him off and he was replaced by a keeper (Federici) who actually scored the winner and the only goal of the match....Something like that anyway....But Brown was playing for us at the time...

Here's where i read it: http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=403337&CPID=34&clid=3&lid=6&title=Saturday+friendly+round-up

Quote
Premiership new-boys Reading won 1-0 against Bromley in a bizarre encounter that saw goalkeeper Adam Federici score the winning goal after 70 minutes.
The Australian shot stopper went outfield after a nasty ankle injury to Aaron Brown that required an X-ray in hospital, whilst assistant kit man Selby Armstrong was also given a run-out.

Even the kit-man played  :|

We know that the majority of our squad aren't good enough for L2....so it will take Wise a while to identify and get rid of the wasters.....at least Brown is looking to get out, as opposed to sitting around doing jack shit and collecting his wages....not sure there'll be many takers mind.

I'd expect to see a good few fall out of favour as the season proper starts....which is why this season will be transitional.

I think you're right Reg, at least about players falling out of favour (probably about the transitional as well, although I hope we can combine that with a decent push at promotion/playoffs - not impossible). I'd not be too surprised to see us coming out of the Jan transfer window with quite a  different starting line-up to what we start the season with.

Reading's Aaron Brown used to play for Tamworth.

He's 100% not Swindon's Aaron Brown.

Reg how do you know the majority of our squad aren't good enough for League Two? The first 11 that played against Ciren would be a superb XI in the bottom tier IMO.

He doesnt know Tails. League 2 is not about quality, it is about fitness and commitment. Something the players never had under King/Iffy but this is Wise totally different kettle of fish.

What negative crap would Reg spout if we won league 2? I for one am not looking to consolidate and i cannot believe that Wise/Poyet will be either

Swindon Town: Peter Brezovan, Jack Smith, Jamie Vincent, Curtis Weston, Jerel Ifil, Ady Williams, Michael Pook, Ricky Shakes, Christian Roberts, Lee Peacock, Andy Monkhouse

I'm of course basing my statement on the players from last season.

The likes of Smith, Whalley, Pook, Shakes, Roberts and Ifil last season were generally either poor or very poor......Peacock did alright before getting injured....throw in Nicho, who had by season's end degenerated into little more than a pub player and it will take a massive turn around.....these players allowed our club to achieve its lowest ever position in a single tier 3rd division....through lack of professionalism; one thing I'm sure Wise wont tolerate...I'm not sure that's something you can just wish to change and make  happen in a matter of weeks, far more likely that those players will be moved on.

Of the new boys, I'll pass judgement when I've seen them play.

Well, come to that none of us know. But he has a point - sides that struggle in League 1, struggle in League 2, if they waltz in thinking "Aah, drop in quality, we'll waltz this div". There is no real gap - viz Stockport, Torquay or conversely Swansea and Southend.

Nail on the head there. That's where I'm pinning my hopes on. Too many of last season's squad, as Reg says, underperformed to a shocking extent and got us relegated. However, it's more a case that they underperformed than never had it in them (for most, anyway), so if Wise can get the performances out of them, we're laughing (well, giggling a bit). Some he won't be able to, and they'll be on their way by Xmas.

I totally nonplussed by his departure to be honest.

Showed flashes of quality, but ultimatley did it far too infrequently to be considered a good player.

Dont think being played at left wing back helped his cause much though.
