If a player has pissed the fans off for some reason, I have long advocated total indifference. i.e. all his team mates come out to warm up before the game and they may or may not get a bit of heckling. When the ex player comes out though, everyone should just shut the fuck up and let him come out to stoney silence. This should continue throughout the game so that when he gets the ball everyone immediately goes totally silent. I know it could never ever happen, but it would be such a head fuck for the player concerned P.S I voted 'Who?' as it came closest to my theory!

I've got a feeling it could end-up like Grant Smith's return for me. I seriously didn't realise he had even played in the City game until watching it after.

No, I don't hold grudges. What happens happens. He's a bit of a spoonhead for going to Franchise imo but I won't waste my breath and go out of my way to boo him. I also do not have testosterone.

you do have testosterone, but not in the same quantity as men. I voted no as well, let's move on. Don't dwell on the past, it's not as though he is irreplaceable. No pace, got beat in the air a lot, laughable distribution.

I don't really care, maybe its the hot weather but i can't get worked up about his going I think he's shown himself to be a utter fool with his comments about the Mac dons being a bigger club than us the blokes an idiot. He had a dire season,i don't think we're going to miss him.

Probably being the same sex and everything whereas If he got abuse I'd probably end up feeling sorry for him.

Very true Sade, us men folk can get a bit agitated at times. Its good for our mental health, I reckon. Otherwise we'd bottle it up for years then let it all out on some crazy murderous rampage. With that in mind, maybe I will boo O'Hanlon...

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to be said for screaming abuse if it's done properly. The best hostile reception I have ever seen given was for the return of Cry Baby Beauchamp in '96. He got an absolute tirade of abuse for the whole 90 minutes plus stoppage time and the Town players, to their credit (no doubt fired up by McMoan) more than played their part. They kicked him alll over the park from start to finish. Every Town player and fan who was there that day deserves a lot of credit. Oh yes, and we won the game. That's also extremely important if you're going to slate a player. If you don't win the game, the object of your hatred has the last laugh and all your efforts are for nothing.
