suspended as the teams that would be promoted on the back of this want to present evidence.

WTF has this got to do with them??? surely their input would be a conflict of interests???

Here's an update of what happened yesterday:

Stefano Palazzi has asked for Juventus to be relegated to at least Serie C, the third tier of the Italian league structure, and handed a six-point penalty and the three remaining clubs to be moved down one level to Serie B.

If his recommendations are passed, Milan would commence next season with a three-point penalty while Lazio and Fiorentina would start the Serie B campaign with a deficit of 15 points.

Furthermore, Juve's Serie A titles won in 2005 and 2006 would be taken away from them.

Former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi faces a five-year suspension from any role under the jurisdiction of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), with the same penalty sanctioned for his Juve colleague Antonio Giraudo, Fiorentina owner Diego Della Valle and Lazio president Claudio Lotito.

Similar sentences have been recommended by Palazzi for Milan official Leonardo Meani, former FIGC president Franco Carraro and FIGC official Pierluigi Pairetto, who are all alleged to have abused their roles to give the clubs involved advantages in Serie A matches.

Palazzi has asked for referee Massimo de Santis, who was initially destined to be Italy's representative at this summer's World Cup, to be be banned for five years with his colleague Gianluca Paparesta suspended for one year for withholding information.

The recommendations are all provisional and can be altered over the course of the trial, with all parties now given the opportunity to deliver their defence.

A final judgement will be made by the CAF between July 8-10 with appeals possible until July 20, when the final decisions must be made to allow the FIGC to commence preparations for the 2006/07 championship.

UEFA will also be keen on resolving the trial, which could change the line-up of its Champions League and UEFA Cup competitions next season.

The penalties have got to be harsh, like relegations and not just fines.

Does anyone know if/when anything has happened about the league 2 club(i think) that was being investigated for similar offences?

Last season Genoa were demoted for doing the same sort of thing i think  :?: i know they had won promotion to Serie A,but were relegated down a couple of divisions instead i believe.Personally as a Samp fan i found it highly amusing.Your probably thinking of another team anyway so i've been of no use, where's Ultra when we need him  Wink

That rings a bell thanks. To be honest a lot of them have probably been investigated/mentioned at some point.

There's gonna be one hell of a transfer merry go round when/if these big teams go down.  Time for some bargain hunting.
