it decided to wipe all my music the other day and now won't let me format it. i've tried holding down rewind, menu, ffw and the center button but that does nowt, any ideas?
its lasted me about 3 years and had alot of use in that time so perhaps i should look around for a new one

There was a problem a while ago with formatting and what version of Windows SP you are using.
Have you tried plugging it in and using the iPod auto-updater software?

yeah tried all that gubbins, the ipod doesn't seem to want to talk to anything else.
i might sell it for scrap on eBay and get a nano, i think anything apart from an ipod is just going to seem piss poor after this one
