3 years here as well, survived Saaaaarf America and Glastonbury along the way.
Although I have carried that hunk of plastic up my arse for three damn years before I croak from dysentery.

It's all about personal preference really though isn't it? I couldn't give a crap if everyone thought ipods were the dog's bollocks if I thought they were shit (and vice-versa). I haven't got an mp3 player or used one so I don't have an opinion mind.

13.7% is more like one in 7 not one in ten, which isn't great.
Also, seems it's as high as one in 3 for some of them but the newer ones are less which you would expect as they haven't had as long to go wrong.
I'm thinking of getting a music player, either an ipod or one of the sony ones but it'll probably be one of the sony ones as I don't like the click wheel and they have longer battery life and seem better value. They just need to sort out the software but I don't like itunes anyway.

I've had my iPod for 4 years and never had any problems with it at all.
Ace bit of kit that I use every day and bash about a fair bit too.

13.7% is more like one in 7 not one in ten, which isn't great. I guess you think it is great then?? If it was over 50% that would be really shit but that's still way too high for my liking. If I spend £200-£300 or so on something I'd want the chance of it failing after a year or so to be at the very least under 10%, preferably much lower 'cos I'd want to keep it longer than that. For the ones that debuted less than a year half ago old the average seems to be about 20% failure and I don't think that's very good, a lot of those would've been a lot newer than one a half years, all depends how reliable the other music players are anyway. The only ones that look pretty reliable on there are the video ones but the survey was done less than a month after they debuted so that's way too early to tell.... That survey is a bit dodgy anyway though, it's a mac website so they're surveying people who love ipods etc. and they're not likely to be the ones who've had a load of ipods failing. You seem a bit defensive about the ipod, like they're somehow beyond criticism why? I'll just buy whichever one I think's the best. At the moment I think it's pretty close between the ipod and the sony ones but I'm not gonna rule either out.
