the same players that got us in the shit. they aint that good.
they should be gratefull of a year and prove themselves next season or fuck off.
the only ones that we could get money for would be o'hanlon or evans.
if whatever has been offered to each player aint good enough for them let them go.

Out of the eleven players who started the first league game of this season, six of them had never played a competitive match for Swindon Town FC.
It was never going to work, but unfortunately necessity dictated that this was what we had to do..
Following early defeats King attempted to 'firefight' by bringing in useless loanees (McCammon anyone?) and giving them regular starting slots.
The true difference, in my opinion, regarding our current play-off form boils down to a few major points.

Limited loanees.. At the moment only players contracted to Swindon Town are starting matches.

Consistency of team selection.. replacements only for injuries or genuine tactical reasons.

Confidence.. We all know we're better than relegation, so it seems do the players at this moment in time.

These players have got us out of the shit that was caused by too many players leaving the club (i.e the reason we started the league with over six new faces), not anything self-inflicted.
If you ask me, they're now showing their true worth and if we don't want exactly the same thing to happen season after season we have to show confidence in our playing squad - 2 year deals.

The board also have to trust the managementss judgement, especially when you consider the impact that Iffy's limited signings seem to have made to our chances this season.

all good points brighton red,but i still think some of them dont deserve 2 year deals.
but if thats what iffy decides then fine,as he's proving himself as a good manager and i think he will take the club forward.
i dont want rid of any player but it is inevitable some will leave for better money, having said thati hope all those that iffy wants to stay do.
my point being i wont be to bothered.

Vebal agreement apparently.. better than hearing nothing.

Jerel seems to echo my feelings exactly:

There are a lot of exciting players here and I think we are playing well as a unit. The squad has potential and if we can keep the bulk of the squad together then we could go places and I want to be a part of what could be an exciting future here at Swindon Town,"

You'd have to question Whalley being offered anything more than a month by month deal, although I'd be very interested to see how he performs in a side with some confidence. He certainly wasn't the battler we needed to get us out of the shit but you never know, he might come good in a team not desparately trying to survive.

Matty Bulman doesn't cut it as back-up for Rhys I'm afraid.

Pook still needs to convince me.

As does Paul Smith, although I'd definitely want him as a squad player.

I'll leave it to the management to decide the fate of the youngsters..

I'd like to see all of the below at this club after next season.
Evans, J Smith, Ifil, O'hanlon, Nicholas, Jenkins, Peacock, Migz, Cureton, Shakes, CCP, Roberts, Gurney, Brown.

More importantly.....what about Iffys contract?

Id offer everyone 2 year deals, bar the youngster who still have alot to prove Bulman, Lapham, Pook & Holgate

Now we have a bigger squad Lapham, Pook & Holgate should all be loaned out, ideally to a League Two club

Not sure why you're getting so excited that they've been offered contracts. Reminds me of when people were delighted that Fallon was in contract talks. It doesn't mean anything until they sign.
Step in the right direction though Ben, i'd rather they opened negotiations now than in April/May/June. Although, if they sign new contracts, maybe they'll start playing shit again Wink

On another note, i thought Whalley had another year with us? Although, if he doesn't break into the first team by the end of the season, i can see us offloading him in the Summer

I think anybody in the first team at the moment should be kept if possible. It is great to see Jerel is happy and that the players are reflecting the confidence of the fans.

When your team (correctly) know they are good you can only be happy!

I agree that the youngsters should be given one year deals, although I can see Holgate being worth keeping for the future, Bulman is crap. No idea about the others

As much as it pains me to say it I'd let Jenkins go in the summer. He's getting on and has been below par virtually every game I've seen him playthis season

Bulman should also get released. mutual termination for whalley - he must be o a decent wage.

I'd give Pook and paul smith 1 year and the rest of them 2.
