Based on what he said before the game, there's some logic to it - he said that he didn't do it against Gillingham as there was so little space in the final third. Now Doncaster have to push forward, there should be more space for two strikers to operate. It's not the obvious approach, but there's a consistency to it at least.

You’re still more likely to create something with more players in a smaller space than having less players  in a slightly bigger space.
To me it would be more about the player:player ratio. If they have 5 defenders you’re going to do better with 5 strikers. Smaller space but 1:1. Leave 1 up front you have lots of space but it’s 5:1

A win, a clean sheet, and, in patches, some of the best play we managed this season. Doncaster looked utterly shite, but that was a real step forward for me.

Fucking get in, back to back wins and nice to win away again. Second half best performance of the season, enjoyed it and we absolutely bossed it. Donny poor today and offered fuck all but end of day, they was at right end of table and 3pts is 3pts.

First half fucking dross, boring, both teams shit. Second half different story. Brynn solid won everything, Clayton and Baudry won virtually everything, Hutton looked good today, midfield solid - Reed and Williams back to their best, Wakeling unreal. He runs more than Jerry Yates imo, great goal and some quality tackles to win ball back. Shade shocking in first half, much better in second. Lindsey's name sang right from the start and got louder as game went on, come straight to fans at end. Am I fully sold on him? Not yet, but said from day one look how he speaks, only a prick would want him to fail. Hope he laps up every bit of today. Class support too, best it’s been this season.

Have to agree,  today was like watching a Conference side against a league 1 team hoping they stumble across a chance to score a goal. I have no idea what the managers game plan is, we can't string 3 or 4 passes together, we are unbelievably slow, we either pass back or hit it long to our lone striker, there is no urgency, we may as well not play Taylor as we don't give him the ball & he spent more time defending, we are at home, in league 2, it's absolutely shocking.

Swindon had players persistently in space & passed through us with ease. Every side I have watched us play have a plan & play as a unit. In the first couple of games I thought this team had at least  a bit of character, that has disappeared in the last 3 games. Anyway I blame George Miller for everything.

Mitchell pulling off some superb saves whilst their keeper pulled up a chair and read the paper. Mitchell also needs to distribute the ball a lot quicker. Watching him spend epochs to kick the ball just adds to the general malaise and apathy about the place, instilled by the manager.

Thought Louis Reed played well today, another one that got away, or we allowed to, whichever. Also thought their number 10 Darcy was excellent, energy, forward thinking, & box to box.

Weird career, Jonny Williams. Has always looked a quality player whenever I’ve seen him but was never really trusted at Palace and bounced around on loan a lot before having a decent couple of years with Charlton. No idea what he’s doing at Swindon now, surely could be playing a league or arguably even two above.

So why he's only managed to secure a deal at a 4th tier team though is beyond me. Although as Nick suggests above, he does seem to be one of those players, like Joe Allen, who plays best when, and puts a big priority on being, happy at a club, so maybe that explains it.
