Heard something quite interesting about Murrell last night, doesn't sound a particularly pleasant character in all honesty.  In fact after some of the stuff I was told last night, which has come direct from people within the club, it appears those that have openly expressed concerns about the new board were bang on.  Whatever good Andrew Black did for us previously, he's sold us completely up the river now.

I'm not one for being vague, but I'm really not sure what I can put on here without getting into any trouble.

Yep....found it very strange that when Mr Black fucked off no one seemed to bat an eyelid....but Paolo copped a bucket load when he did the same....for reasons that have been much discussed.

It is a public forum Jo but keep it to yourself i reckon.....many of us have our doubts and time will offer us the truth.

If the people within the club do know something (not saying they don't) then you've already said too much in my opinion.

Agreed Leefer. I'll never fully understand why it was seemingly ok for Black to up sticks and leave when 'the going got tough' yet when Paolo did the same there were ructions! Fwiw I've always felt uneasy about Murral, got a dodgy look about him!!!

Hence I've gone into no detail.  There's always going to be people who have more information than the rest of us due to their connections with the club.  I suppose they really shouldn't share facts that aren't common knowledge with others, but everyone loves a bit of gossip don't they?  Of course, there is also the risk that information is embellished to sound more interesting as well and fact becomes fiction.

As Leefer says, I expect all the questions people have been asking will get answered at some point.  Hopefully the sooner the better to stop gossip and rumour.

I'm aware of the situation Reg but thanks for the pointer all the same! My point is that if Black has indeed sold us up the river with regards to who he sold the club to then that kind of overwrites any lasting legacy he may have currently left in terms of what he invested into the club. Imo he has a duty to ensure that the sale of the club gives it the best possible chance to prosper in the future. Only time will tell if this is indeed the case but the fact the embargo has yet to be lifted is certainly a cause for concern. Fwiw I was one of the ones pleading with the new board to be given the time and support needed a few weeks back and I'm sure getting the embargo lifted & giving KM some freedom in the loan market will go some way to easing supporters concerns.

Sir Seton lent the club millions and came close to letting the club go out of business in an attempt to find a buyer that would pay him that money back (with interest) for an asset that had pretty much no market value.

 Debate about Black and legacy, can wait for another day...what is important here, is that we find out about the Board, and the mystery investors.

He stopped the club going under on many occasions....and coming close to going out of business is not the same as actually going out of business...

Slagging Black or Sir Seton is not an option for me,they both gave plenty of money to the club.....my point was is when Black left us...halfway through a season and in need of selling our top player it was not a lot different to Paolo leaving a week after...... i understand that others see it differently but i dont.

So black leaves after ploughing in 10 mil of his own money and PDC leaves after doing a job he was paid to be doing.

Can someone tweet Morsehead to get confirmation the 1.2 million necessary to lift us out of embargo has been ring-fenced by the board?

I know he's said he believed it to be in place but did he ever get definite confirmation?

If that's confirmed then many of my worries which are still about the financial side will be alleviated in the short term at least and the issues still holding the lifting of this embargo back can surely only be legal wrangling/ related to the capricious bias of the football league.

I honestly cant see this being due to the FL dragging its feet cos they hate Swindon.

My worry is that the £1.2m is wanted by the FL to ensure we can complete this season - ie fund wages and pay outstanding debts. I'm working on the basis that the Ritchie money has run out or will shortly. I can't see this being the FL picking on us - it may be more a case of them actually doing us a favour. There was a suspicion that trhis board were going to try and make a quick turnover of the club based on buying a Div 3 club - spending nil and selling a Div 2 club.

Even more unlikely I'd expect as we'd have to pay the free agents wages but might not have to pay the wages of loan players...

Quite apart from the issues surrounding how this team might struggle without new bodies coming in, the lack of transparency from the top, when we need transparency most and they can't even give us a transparent reason for not being transparent, is what I'd imagine is concerning the majority of us most of all.

I think people will be quite reticent about early bird renewal, and renewal in general (unless we get promoted with this team anyway and swept away on the euphoria that ensues, which is maybe what they're gambling on *conspiracy*  :eek:) if this embargo is not lifted, and we're furthermore not given an explanation for any of this, leaving everyone still in the dark over the nature of who they're handing money to.

Speculation is going to spiral the longer the silence continues.

What I don't understand is if the FL did a fit and proper persons test 2 weeks ago which looks at our new owners finances/plans, what is the hold up now?

The new board need to start talking to fans, it would seem their collective inexperience at running a football club is coming to the fore and as has already been mentioned erode any goodwill/benefit of the doubt from fans.

Jed owns/owned Banbury and Hooper has worked at at least 2 other clubs. They also have a consultant whose and experienced football man in Martin King. These things are out there in the public domain and on this site. It's no secret.

If you want to know about things it helps to read about them.

Banbury are not a professional football club and getting paint donated from a local firm to do up a club house hardly constitutes 'experienced' club ownership.

Hooper held two commercial roles, similar to Adam Wainwright at STFC as good as he may be at his job it isn't anywhere near sitting on a board of a football club.

Martin King was a board member at Luton for 1 1/2 years during their financial meltdown. Plenty of best practice to be learnt from that... It's all out there if you actually read it before putting blind faith in what the adver tells you.

From the tone of that article it would seem that Sam Morshead is as fed up with a lack of explanation from the club,
as the rest of us.I feel very sorry for KMac.

It is, its the complete lack of any official comment of what the reason for it is that's annoying.

Things we 'know'
   - Club says it has funds.
   - Adver says the club has paid outstanding loan and transfer fees (no mention of ex-staff though)
   - Murrall says it is due to "unseen issues"
   - Morshead says, don't blame the new board.

I guess we may not like what we are told, but its getting a bit silly now.

I'd have thought that if it was Paolo related, they'd have a ready made excuse. Mind you - if lawyers are involved then that could be why they are keeping schtum.

About the fact that the reason for the embargo obviously has deeper roots than we were led to believe. As far as I'm aware the NDA is over now and there is no excuse for the lack of transparency about the current situation. 

We've not been led to believe anything, have we? Nobody has stated a reason for why we are under an embargo.

Agree that transparency should be on the list of priorities for the board, not least revealing the backers, but this isn't about convincing anyone one way or another.

Exactly. Nobody has stated a reason for the embargo, therefore I was asking Flasheart what it would take to convince him that everything isn't quite as it should be at the moment. A simple explanation should have been offered by the board, however limited the information was, to keep supporters in the loop. This is a potential promotion winning side and manager that seem to be getting fucked around left, right and centre as things stand. I'm sure KM wouldn't have gone to the point of identifying targets if he knew we had no chance of signing them before the loan window shuts which leads me to believe that something has happened, probably in the last couple of working days, to throw a real spanner in the works. Obviously whatever that is, nobody is any the wiser.

In retrospect, it was probably best for our chances of promotion that Di Canio went when he did, as he'd probably have quit 5 times over in the time since he left!

At least we have a manager now whose had a few weeks working with the squad, whose accepting of his inabilty to control what goes on in the boardroom and who'll get on with his job allowing the players to concentrate on getting on with theirs.

Probably the best we could hope for out of the ongoing clusterfuck of backroom wranglings that continue to overshadow what occurs on the field of play.

Yeah. Over-use of the same sounds gets a bit tiresome after a while, especially when mumford and sons use the same 'noise' over and over again... Far as mandolins go, they're best used sparingly. Lindisfarne was cracking at doing that.
