Title: Re: Flint Post by: cheltred69 on Monday, January 30, 2012, 18:56:40 I presume that was only speculation based on a reported incident that may have hurt his ego more than harmed him from playing.
Title: Re: Flint Post by: DV on Monday, January 30, 2012, 18:56:59 the specialist is a plastic surgeon obviously!
Title: Re: Flint Post by: nevillew on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, 08:02:40 Well possibly he knew he was injured, went out on the town in a stroppy mood, and got knocked out (sparko, to fall in with another thread's puns) as a result.

Title: Re: Flint Post by: thedarkprince on Friday, February 3, 2012, 07:00:50 That's a blow for sure. Devera and Boateng for cover and PadC suggesting he may go into the loan market.
Title: Re: Flint Post by: Essexred on Friday, February 3, 2012, 07:11:28 Time for Joe to step up and show he can do it week in, week out.
Title: Re: Flint Post by: sonicyouth on Friday, February 3, 2012, 07:20:30 good job we bought Boateng in
Title: Re: Flint Post by: fatbasher on Friday, February 3, 2012, 07:40:16 Ouch. Aden my old mate, taking one for the team is not worth it. Get yourself sorted and come back next season bigger, stronger and better. Good luck.
Title: Re: Flint Post by: Benzel on Friday, February 3, 2012, 07:51:14 Its a blow but Im not too concerned.
Title: Re: Flint Post by: london_red on Friday, February 3, 2012, 08:15:05 Its a blow but Im not too concerned. Agreed. Devera has the ability to replace Flint's value aerially, and while he still looks a little shaky in possession sometimes, he's more than adequate cover. Title: Re: Flint Post by: Batch on Friday, February 3, 2012, 08:29:31 arse. not worth risking looking them fitness over though.
Title: Re: Flint Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Friday, February 3, 2012, 08:46:57 It's a blow, because he has been immense.
But as said its not as bad as it could have been, based on Devera's recent performances. I think he has performed pretty well and with Alan Mac (mark II) can form a solid partnership. As for Flint, I would rather he's 100% ready for next season, than struggle through not being at his best, to find that he may still need surgery & then potentially miss the start of next season. Title: Re: Flint Post by: Ardiles on Friday, February 3, 2012, 08:54:26 You simply cannot risk the fitness & long term prospects of a player as young as Aden Flint - so surgery is the right thing and the club should stand by him. If we show some loyalty to him right now, then hopefully he'll return it several times over in the seasons ahead.
Something like this was bound to happen at some point...we've been very lucky with injuries so far this season. Luckily, we do have competition for places in the squad. Devera's chance...needs to step up and take it now. I have faith. Title: Re: Flint Post by: Processed Beats on Friday, February 3, 2012, 09:22:24 Massive blow.
Title: Re: Flint Post by: mrverve on Friday, February 3, 2012, 09:28:08 Gutted. Hopefully Devera can step up, he looked a bit shaky at the start of the game at Southend but then grew into it.
Title: Re: Flint Post by: Costanza on Friday, February 3, 2012, 09:38:23 Flint will be a big loss but he was prone to errors himself.
We have Devera and Boateng. I would deem that more than adequate. Title: Re: Flint Post by: RJack on Friday, February 3, 2012, 09:40:28 Problem is if you lose either McCormack or Devera through injury then we are thread bare at the back. I know we have bought in the young lad from Arsenal as cover but he has no league experience. Maybe he'll be a good signing for us but the fact is if we get any more injuries / suspensions at CB then we could be very vunerable at the back.
Title: Re: Flint Post by: Benzel on Friday, February 3, 2012, 09:53:00 Whens the emergency loan window open again?
Title: Re: Flint Post by: Flashheart on Friday, February 3, 2012, 09:56:17 Let's not forget Risser is a CB
Title: Re: Flint Post by: Gnasher on Friday, February 3, 2012, 09:58:23 Not good news.
Devera is playing well and is more of a threat at set-pieces than Flint (surprisingly!), but if he or McCormack get injured or lose form then we have a problem. I don't think we can rely on the Arsenal kiddy. Title: Re: Flint Post by: DV on Friday, February 3, 2012, 09:58:59 Whilst Flint will be a big loss, Devera can step in and do a very good job.
I'd be more worried about losing Alan Mac to be honest. I think to a certain extend Devera and Flint are interchangeable. I wouldnt say the same for Alan Mac and Boateng!! Title: Re: Flint Post by: Gnasher on Friday, February 3, 2012, 09:59:57 Let's not forget Risser is a CB I felt nervous when he played at the back. Emergency CB maybe! Title: Re: Flint Post by: REDBUCK on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:03:11 omg, RELEGATION LOOMS
Title: Re: Flint Post by: thepeoplesgame on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:06:35 You simply cannot risk the fitness & long term prospects of a player as young as Aden Flint - so surgery is the right thing and the club should stand by him. If we show some loyalty to him right now, then hopefully he'll return it several times over in the seasons ahead. Paolo nearly lost his leg because some of the doctors at Lazio pumped him full of cortisone rather than get his tendon problem treated, so I can't imagine for a moment that he would advise Flint to do anything other than get this sorted now for the long term. It's a shame for Flint that after being so impressive he will miss out on the possibility of a Wembley visit and/or the sealing of promotion, but we have decent cover and the best manager in the league so we will cope. Title: Re: Flint Post by: Flashheart on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:06:49 Can Cibocchi not also play at CB?
Title: Re: Flint Post by: DV on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:08:32 Migz is currently a free agent!
Title: Re: Flint Post by: Benzel on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:09:07 Can Cibocchi not also play at CB? Yeah he can. Looked fine there the one time he played there... for 20 minutes... I think he'd be fine though. Title: Re: Flint Post by: Processed Beats on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:14:22 Yeah he can. Looked fine there the one time he played there... for 20 minutes... I think he'd be fine though. But, like McCormack, is small. Think we should keep with Devera for now, if anything for his height. Title: Re: Flint Post by: london_red on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:15:11 Let's not forget Risser is a CB Did Cibocchi not slot in at CB earlier on in the season as well? Did a competent job iirc. Title: Re: Flint Post by: Costanza on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:37:19 I've got a lot of time for Joe Devera as he started as a regular and then essentially disappeared and when he has come back, he's done his bit.
I'm sure many within the dreaded Class of 2011 would have been whining and moaning. Title: Re: Flint Post by: Benzel on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:44:26 But, like McCormack, is small. Think we should keep with Devera for now, if anything for his height. Yeah true - I'd only want him there in an absolute emergency anyway. Joe is just as capable as Flinty Title: Re: Flint Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:53:16 Cibocchi isn't small is he? I thought he looked at least 6 foot?
Title: Re: Flint Post by: Arriba on Friday, February 3, 2012, 12:39:55 Migz is currently a free agent! Never was a ball winner though. A like for like is what we need. Flint has done really well but mac is the man who is the one we don't want to lose. Flint is not going to be too difficult to replace i think Title: Re: Flint Post by: Processed Beats on Friday, February 3, 2012, 12:42:39 Cibocchi isn't small is he?
