Righty

Operation get proxies sorted is a go. It'll be another glorious day on their site, getting a tan from the fallout.

And I've no work to do today.

A suggestion.

Lets get Marcello Trotta from Fulham on loan.

6'4" 19 year old Italian striker.
Scored 8 goals in 8 games for Wycombe
(and a lot of goals for the Fulham development team as well)
Gone back to Fulham because he wants to play at a higher level.

Lets be honest - we are a higher level, just a division lower.
And he can talk to Paolo in Italian.

I am sure BBC Wiltshire said this morning a renewed bid for Constable and also a bid for Ronan Murray.

They said another signing is expected in the next 24 hours. Town are known to have put in bids for Constable and Murray.

Not sure about Constable. Think we might be able to do better than him. Although he has scored 9 goals in a terrible team so he must have something about him.

That is true, hes also exactly the type of player Paolo wants, fairly quick big target man, but yes there must be better similar types of player out there such as Trotta mentioned above.

Beans, Beano, it's a sign!!

Clearly.

Constable got the nickname 'Beano' at school because the other kids thought his head looked like a baked bean.

True story.

Don't be surprised if BBC Swindon have some news on the Graham Mack show at 6.45am for all you early birds. Hotly followed up verbatim by the thinking mans beano half an hour later.

Just because we all piss off at 5pm so to speak figuratively but doesn't mean the Jeremy Wray's of this world do. The wheeling and dealing will go on well into the night when there's decent money on the table.

If Constable wishes to play in a higher League next season then he simply has to leave Oxford. Whether he joins us or not is irrelevant but in my opinion Oxford are the least likely to maintain a promotion challenge of the top 7.

Title: Re: Adver News: Wray hints at further signings

Oxford United still have more than a chance of getting a Play-Off place. Then it's a lottery.

I know, I know - We're supposed to disregard all things Oxford  - but to write them off is a bit silly.

Not denying they could finsh in the playoffs nor did i write them off, just in my opinion of the current top 7 I would have Oxford as the least likely to acheive promotion. This has nothing to do with them being scummers!

PdC does seem to like winding other clubs up. I reckon as we have a relatively simple game on Saturday followed by the FA Cup game, which any new player wouldn't play in anyway, he is just waiting til the last possible moment to get the new forward in so it leaves the selling club next to no time to find a replacement.

That would really piss the Pox off if it was Cunstable.

No such thing as a simple game in football, plus better for us to get the player in quicker so he can get up to speed with fitness

Tamas Priskin would be a good signing but probably way out of our league, fellow Czech International may be friends with Magera? never hurts to wish.

As for Cody MacDonald, I can't see Covee wanting to get rid of him so recently after buying him in the summer, a loan deal MAY be a possibility to regain his fitness levels but I can't see them wanting to sell him to us permanantly.

Constable pros and cons:

+
Nobody in our side fights as hard as him
Scores goals

-
The first touch of a rapist
Not a natural finisher
Doubts about his pedigree above this level, due to lack of technical ability

For those reasons I'm not too fussed. If he decides to stay, good. If he goes, fine. We could replace him with someone better, the fee is important in that respect.

I'm not massive on this rivalry thing. I'd obviously rather we sold him to Bournemouth or Luton or someone, but I'm not going to throw my toys out of the pram if you've met our valuation. It would make the March derby (even more) fucking tasty, he might get killed on the pitch or something.

Stuff

The only reason I can see why Oxford announced this via a Club Statement was to get other clubs interested. What do you think?

I wouldn't dream to tell a fan base that a bid for a crowd favourite has been accepted from your fiercest rival if said player had no interest.

It's put them in a weak position. Counstable can't be happy with all the abused he got via Twitter. He might as well wear a 'For Sale' sign when he plays now.

That was always my thoughts but hell we had a great ride and so fucking upset the inbreds up the A420 for an afternoon, this really is what football is about, love it.

He may have been a good signing he may not, we wont know now and frankly I dont care, he sounds like some of his bridges may have been burnt along the way, of course Pox fans wont see it that way, even though they were thinking that 12 hours ago!

There must be better players out there for cheaper or equivalent.

He's in a bracket of proven strikers at this level. There are probably more Austin-like gems out there for a pittance, but for every one of those there are fifty flops. We got very lucky. Jamille Matt's been mentioned. He could go on to be anything from a Premier League striker to a Blue Sq South reserve.

Everyone keeps saying there must be better. But realistically who?

Agree with that sentiment. We ourselves have fallen into the "he's replaceable" trap far too often, particularity with strikers (and Greer).

Its a real shame that rightly or wrongly Kerouche is no longer part of the team.

I think he's probably just burnt out after spending most of September on fire...

I'd like to see us offer that much for Billy Kee, has had a great season at Burton and think he would do a good job for us.  Seems to offer something different to the other strikers we have as well.

Am I correct in saying Mcleod is out of contract at the end of the season? A fee similar to Rooney might be enough to sign him. Although perhaps PDC doesn't 'fancy' him.

according to torquay he moved there to closer to his mother who lives locally to burton. So a move to us would be unlikely. I would still like to see Eastwood come to us.

Yep and Benjani is the only player.

There could be something in this.

One of the scouts tweeted this morning about a chance encounter in the gym this morning may have set up a deal. From what I remember, this is the same guy who posted about bumping into Matt Ritchie in the gym in Portsmouth over the summer. Benjani is a Pompey player. 2 + 2 = 5?

Isn't Benjani a bit of a lazy article? Or is it just the way he plays makes him look that way?

Would not be unhappy with this signing if it happens though!

I'd be pretty bloody excited by Benjani. I don't know how you can misread that twitter to mean anything other than Benjani. I'd still be shocked though.

Right, Constable out the way, next rumour - Benjani?! This transfer window has been mad. Surely he'd have to take about an 80% pay cut to come here?

Paolo is definitely just playing Championship Manager. Love it.

He would be a massive signing in L2 (and L1), as long as his heart's in it. Otherwise it could be Kerrouche P2.

Always struck me as lazy and disinterested when I've seen him (admittedly only on MOTD) and he hardly has age on his side.

Bizarre rumour to say the least.

Would it be a free transfer? I guess we can offer some performance/promotion related deal. If we get promoted he still wouldn't be even on half of that though.

If we were prepared to pay 200k for constable and assuming there is no transfer fee for Benjani a 200k signing on fee might help sway him

Pretty sure he doesn't need the money! He was training with Stockport County before he signed for Pompey, as he is friends with Didi Hamann. Wonder if he has a friendship with Paolo?

At 33, he may see his future in the bottom 2 divisions. We'll see!

You say that as if you know something? I can see the point though - nothing to gain (except football) for Benjani by taking a huge wage drop. A loan sees him play football, and us cut a chunk out of his wage for Pompey. Still can't see it happening.

You would have thought so mate, but we do have Paolo in charge so I wouldnt rule pretty much anything out.

Unlikely but he would IMO be truly awesome a class above any other striker (on his day) outside the Championship....except maybe Rhodes at udders.
