Across the road from my place where they sell cocktail smoothies.

I can't get the reception from my room and so I'll be taking my TV down there instead.

I couldn't give a fuck about us winning the WC (not tonight anyway), just stopping the yermans from winning it will give me the instant gratification that I crave.

There's no way I'll let people ruin my day by annoying me in a bar... I'll be at home.

By people, I mean those who watch football like it's the Olympics, once every for years and only when there's something riding on it.

Eurgh.

I really cannot understand the logic of watching it on a pixelated screen that always cuts out in walkabouts or other places. I am staying at blighty, a sofa, cans in the fridge that cost next to nothing, a 42'' HD screen. Surely don't get better unless you have a bigger screen and nicer drinks?

All the Germans are doing are letting us have all the possession, and breaking on us, and we cannot cope.

Where is the defensive midfielder?

The two centre halves are a fucking shambles.

They wouldn't look out of place in League 2.

The way this is going the Germans could score 6.

I don't know who's supposedly our defensive midfielder, but whenever we've lost the ball the Germans have had a free run at our defence, and there has been no closing down of their players.

Golden generation....what a fucking joke?

I don't understand how the commentators are saying Lampard's 'goal' is now academic. If it'd been given then it would be a completely different game.

This isn't down to the management. It's a player power generation.

It's the ultimate wake up call, as long as English football is governed the way it is then pray for our international game.

We appear to have very poor understanding of basic football.

That's because there is too many of our midfield players who would rather look for personal glory ahead of the team. That is why Gerrard, who started out as the defensive midfield player, and played in that position in the 2001 5-1 win in Munich, no longer wants to play in that position as he wants to be forward and score goals.

Capello should tell them, you either play in x position or you don't play at all, and you have 11 men who wants to play for their country, and not pick anyone who 'retires'.

Rooney has been a big disappointment....in fact most of the team have.

Usually at least one England players increases their stock some what after the World Cup/Euros.

I dont think a single England player can lay claim to that this time, David James did alright but Germans 3rd should have been saved.

Oh come on, that's a shit argument. Gerrard's played the attacking midfield role for Liverpool for 5 years or so now.

It's not personal glory, it's just pure individualism. They can't, and don't seem to want to, play as a team. I'd rather 11 inferior players that play well as a team than fielding 11 individuals.

I guess they aren't being paid enough, they only seem to turn up for £100k a week.

It has shown them up for what they are, an average team with one good player who looked hopelessly out of form.

Title: Re: where will you be watching us beat the germans
Post by: Nemo on Sunday, June 27, 2010, 15:55:40
I'd like to say £64 winnings softened the blow but not really. I don't know why, I wasn't expecting us to do much but there we go.

Germany looked a very good counter attacking side and them vs Argentina could be a heck of a game. Ozil is going to be one hell of a player. As for England, I can see blame being thrown everywhere but ultimately I just don't think we had the players. The "Golden Generation" passed in 2006/8, this team haven't really replaced Owen, Neville, Ferdinand, Beckham et al. Particularly worrying is the lack of pace at the back which really cost us today.

Capello is a smart cookie getting the clause removed to get rid of him, but I don't really blame him. Overhyped and overexpected as ever, and I expect the tabloid media to dissolve in a storm of indignation tomorrow and campaign for Harry Redknapp to be manager to push me even further over the edge.

That said, Blatter is still a cunt.

Title: Re: where will you be watching us beat the germans

It'll be interesting to see what happens next. Will Capello resign? Will some of the players 'retire' ?

Ultimately, I image we'll blame FIFA and nothing will change.

Lampard and Barry should be fucking dropped from the first team.
Agree about Barry, he was so slow today he was ging backwards, but Lampard...he was the only England player who looked like scoring (and actually did) today.

But wholesale changes need to happen. I got to feel sorry for Crouch, considering his international scoring record, that he didn't even get on the field.

frank lampard - just shite. didn't seem to do anything positive

Other than score a perfectly good goal, hit the bar.

Whereas the inspirational leader was AWOL for most of the game.

Let's be fair the problem in this game was the defense, we gave away two goals that wouldn't have looked out of place in League 2, and then been caught on the counter attack twice.

Stupid like for like subs as well. I've gone right off Capello. Is he really as good a manager as people were suggesting? I think not. Good yes but of the same standard as the likes of Jose? No. Not in my opinion.

Of course he may have just taken on an impossible job. England players just don't seem up to it at all in most major tournaments.

Title: Re: where will you be watching us beat the germans
Post by: Nemo on Sunday, June 27, 2010, 16:03:49
Oh yes, one other thing: Steven Gerrard played one of the most self-absorbed performances I've ever seen, shooting every time he got the ball and without looking up. Disgraceful and I do think he's one of our better players, but he bought into the "Super Stevie G" thing in style and cost us a few good chances when it might have made a difference.

Agree with Herthab on youth- there'll be calls for mass changes but who do we have? The current generation are average at best and I think it's a bit early yet for Rodwell and Wilshere.

Title: Re: where will you be watching us beat the germans
Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, June 27, 2010, 16:04:03
Personally, I don't really blame Capello... I think he's essentially paid a lot of money to be a summertime babysitter. He doesn't operate that squad, he might believe he does.

We've wasted a good opportunity to take several younger players to get tournament experience... Is Shaun Wright-Phillps the future? Could Theo Walcott be? You can't even argue that Walcott had a poor season because there were several players in that squad that also played below par.

But that's a sidenote... That was an abysmal performance.

Cappello's subs were indeed bewildering, but it's not his fault we're out. I doubt any manager could have got a performance out of that shower of shite. Complacent, fucking useless, gutless egotistical pricks, the lot of them. Again, I fervently hope every man jack of is booed every time they take to the pitch, touch the ball or generally show their self-satisfied smug fucking faces from hereon in.

Really glad I went to see my lad play in the Lydiard 6s tournament this morning - at least I got to see a bunch of 7-8 year olds put in a shift and play like it mattered to them. He was shocked how poor we were today and said to me after the 3rd "Dad if I'd defended that badly this morning, you'd have really shouted at me". And he's bloody right. So much for John fucking Terry and his passion for England and all that "Captain of People's Hearts" armband snatching shite.

England really are up shit creek without a paddle....the big name disciplinarian has failed miserably, after the laissez faire approach of Sven/McClaren also failed.

Can we do as Germany have done....namely go with young players.  Here's teh 2 sides that met in the Euro U 21 a year ago.

Germany U21: Neuer, Beck, Howedes, Boateng, Boenisch, Hummels (Aogo 83), Johnson (Schwaab 68), Castro, Khedira, Ozil (Schmelzer 89), Wagner.
Subs Not Used: Fromlowitz, Ebert, Marin, Grote, Adlung, Ben-Hatira, Ede, Sippel.

Goals: Castro 23, Ozil 48, Wagner 79, 84.

Booked: Boenisch, Wagner.

England U21: Loach, Cranie (Gardner 80), Richards, Onuoha (Mancienne 46), Gibbs, Cattermole, Muamba (Rodwell 77), Noble, Milner, Walcott, Johnson.
Subs Not Used: Lewis, Taylor, Stearman, Tomkins, Driver, Rose.

Germany had 4 playing today....England 1...

Germany had Joachim Loew as manager....someone with next to no club pedigree, but noted as an innovator, who trusts young players.

Don't really think it's an option for England....would a Hodgson or Redknapp do a job?  Not so sure, think we just need to accept that without an overhaul of the entire system, it's likely to get worse before it gets better.

If the players aren't good enough then they aren't good enough. And they aren't.

I don't care what Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney and the like do for there clubs. They have better players around them there. They clearly can't do it on the world stage.

People will blame Cappello, and he should take some of the flack, but the bottom line is we need to start rebuilding with the next generation because this bunch of shite aren't up to it..

Got to give credit to Germany (Hard, I know!) They broke very well and were exciting, at times, to watch.

They are also a young side, who will probably just get better and stronger.

We have an ageing side with very little real quality breaking through from U21.

Doesn't bode well for the future, does it?

Capello is a smart cookie getting the clause removed to get rid of him, but I don't really blame him. Overhyped and overexpected as ever, and I expect the tabloid media to dissolve in a storm of indignation tomorrow and campaign for Harry Redknapp to be manager to push me even further over the edge.

That said, Blatter is still a cunt.

Capello must go in my opinion. Barely a person in the country would have taken the squad he took. There was no left sided midfielder and he stuck riggidly to a 4-4-2 that everyone could see was shit. Even my sister knew that we needed 4-5-1 of a variation of, yet we all no Capello would never have done that.

Blatter is a total cunt. Loved him getting on stage at the start and acting like some sort of god.

Barry do you or don't you care about England? One thread you're laughing and couldn't care less and this one you're calling for Capello's resignation! :D

Fabio Capello got us there with ease. He made selection errors and probably will go but I wouldn't be annoyed if he stayed.

Our players just can't get there heads around World Football! This could be why the big hitters in La Liga and Serie A are never majorly interested in our best English players...

Right, I'll clear it up. :)

I'm severely disillusioned and hate the way this current bunch of wasters have played. I would like to punch everyone of the cunts in the face, so yes i care, but i hate them and them losing makes me hope it hurts them, so it pleases me! I'm English and support England, i'm just jaded and filled with hate at the lack of desire.

Capello clearly has pedigree, but the squad he took, his unbending need to play 4-4-2, his subs and the total lack of desire in our team isn't entirely down to the 11 on the field. I just think some of what I've seen him do is baffling of Andy King like proportions.

With regard to getting there, i'd say Becks had a massive hand in that because i'm sure i recall us being a far better team when he played. Could be wrong though.

Title: Re: where will you be watching us beat the germans
Post by: chalkies_shorts on Sunday, June 27, 2010, 21:19:41
So our players play like cunts but the foreigner gets it. Beckham has been a spare part throughout the qualifying camapign. 4-4-2 did us just fine qualifying. Now all of a suddent the experts are saying play Gerrard behind Rooney - we've done this once and lost 2-0.
I don't think Capello has covered himself in glory but I blame him less than those useless cunts who took to the pitch and forgot how to actually control a ball - yes Rooney, you uselss cunt who couldn't trap a bag of cement.

The trouble is the Premiership.  It's been sold as the best in the world. PR teams have been employed to promote it as such and we've all fallen for it.

Overseas players have come saying that they want to play in 'the best league in the world'. In order to attract them stupid wages have been paid.

English players have fallen for the lie that it's the best league. Trouble is, it's populated by overseas players who make it good, it's not the English players.

When the English players play their overseas team mates we all get to see how crap they really are.

I don't claim to be a football expert but the following seemed a bit odd to me:

- Taking off Milner. I thought when he stuck to the touchline he offered an outlet. The two times in the 2nd half that I thought we looked most dangerous was when the ball was played to him.
- We lacked pace. Wouldn't it have been better to take Walcott, stick him on a wing and say - 'Chase that fucker Theo!'
- Why were all the players bunching up in the middle of the park? Were the crowd tormenting them of something?

Pretty much the worst footballing display i've ever seen that.

Where to go?  For my money a massive cull - Joe Hart, Dawson, fuck knows maybe Huddlestone, Adam Johnson, that lad from Ipswich maybe, fucking Charlie Austin...

As Reg said ideally we should do as Germany have done and back the new generation but I'm not convinced we have enough depth in that department.

Harry Rednapp- no, Frank Lampard's uncle, would not be prepared to make sweeping changes we need to make.

Roy Hodgeson - brilliant manager, would probably make the right footballing decisions but somehow I just don't see it.

Stuart Pearce - unfortunately his tutaledge under Capello has taken a massive turn for the worst.

Basically we're fucked good and proper, don't want another foreigner in as coach but we have no one English really up to the job.

God I hate John Terry...

not to expect significant improvements with England before and during WC 2014.

Although i don't agree with every aspect of this article,at least this journalist isn't showing the
usual one eyed slant of the tabloids, with the 'blame Capello for everything' mantra with much of this

hold full UEFA coaching badges,in comparison to other European countries.

If not, I'd have:

Neuer
Lahm
Mertesacker

Schweinsteiger
Ozil
Podolski
Klose
Muller

So 9, actually. Surely at least 6 of those there'd be no debate for?
