Ultimately, I image we'll blame FIFA and nothing will change.

If Capello has balls then he will drop 5 or 6 of that squad.  Follow the German example and trust in youth.

you'd hope capello will resign. he's picked some donkey's for this squad and ignored form players. his tactics haven't really given us that extra edge...unlike germany

Stupid like for like subs as well. I've gone right off Capello. Is he really as good a manager as people were suggesting? I think not. Good yes but of the same standard as the likes of Jose? No. Not in my opinion.

Of course he may have just taken on an impossible job. England players just don't seem up to it at all in most major tournaments.

What quality young players have we got?

Oh yes, one other thing: Steven Gerrard played one of the most self-absorbed performances I've ever seen, shooting every time he got the ball and without looking up. Disgraceful and I do think he's one of our better players, but he bought into the "Super Stevie G" thing in style and cost us a few good chances when it might have made a difference.

Agree with Herthab on youth- there'll be calls for mass changes but who do we have? The current generation are average at best and I think it's a bit early yet for Rodwell and Wilshere.

Personally, I don't really blame Capello... I think he's essentially paid a lot of money to be a summertime babysitter. He doesn't operate that squad, he might believe he does.

We've wasted a good opportunity to take several younger players to get tournament experience... Is Shaun Wright-Phillps the future? Could Theo Walcott be? You can't even argue that Walcott had a poor season because there were several players in that squad that also played below par.

But that's a sidenote... That was an abysmal performance.

we gave away two goals that wouldn't have looked out of place in League 2, and then been caught on the counter attack twice.

The first one reminded me of the goal we conceded in the first leg against Charlton.

Doesn't matter who the manager is.  This squad is simply not good enough.

Other than score a perfectly good goal, hit the bar.

Whereas the inspirational leader was AWOL for most of the game.

soz, i meant over the tournament

I wish the BBC 'experts' would stop going on about Rooney up front with Gerrard just behind. Rooney was shite all tournament, and Gerrard not much better, despite trying to shoot every time he gets near goal.

I thought that, and in fact the Germans third goal reminded me of our second goal that night

A fucking nut-job is on 606 right now... claiming that all the players should have their salaries cut.  What fucking difference would that make?
