Yep...it's who they have offered it to....still some stuff to sort.

If I'd have divulged it, and Arriba had wacked all his wordly posssessions on, then we couldn't settle compensation....how do you think I'd feel, knowing that a feral, wild eyed, desperado was hunting me?  I do feel a bit sorry for TCP and Swindon Chap.

I can hear the rasp of cold steel on whetstone as we speak...FWIW I think Money is a decent appointment, he's learned his trade in a variety of different clubs, and has a record of being decent with bringing through youth players.

Recent success at Walsall is encouraging.  I've read he likes to build from the back...my only misgiving would be if we become overly negative.

If it is him, looks like I will be the only one on here who thinks it is a shyte choice.

It's a realistic choice, and I'd be happy with it on the grounds that Walsall were promoted and seemed to progress whilst he was in charge. At least from a results point of view.

Given the choice out of Ward, Fridge, Ling, Speed, Tisdale and Money I'd go for Money.

If the calibre and profile of Ollie, Dowie, Pearce, etc, etc were really a realistic option it would be more of a disappointment.

The issue for me was the 'blow you away' soundbites from the boardroom  - it just lead us to think that we had a chance of getting someone better that we can realistically attract and afford. And yes I did get suckered in.

Title: Re: Seems our new manager is................
Post by: Arch Stanton on Saturday, December 13, 2008, 12:05:22
I'm happy with Money, has experience, has contacts on the continent, good nickname.

I have a Walsall supporting mate who lives in Halesowen, he says his style of football is very similar to Sturrocks, defensively strong, like to play with wingers and get balls into the box.

I think a lot of uninformed fans will be grumbling and moaning about the appointment, my season ticket holding dad went 'Who?' when I told him.

If you poster on here and moan then I can accept that 'cos you're all pretty well informed, but all the fly-by-nighters will moan like fuck - and I'll be ruddy well cross with them I can tell you.....

After I said all this its bound to be Gary Speed.

Quote from Walsall fan "his strengths are organisation, fitness and (Asbo excepted of course) discipline. Do not expect to be entertained"

well for one we are not being entertained at the moment, and when we are it's more of a sadistic kind of entertainment so no loss there. What we do lack is any resemblance of organistion at the back, along with the discipline to keep leads or not make horrendous cock-ups. So if as the Walsall fans say he is brilliant at this, bring it on. Maybe he'll be our new Macari!

No we need more than that - not a lot grant you, but we do need that leader in the back line, preferably at centre half.

I think as a gesture to the fans for all our suffering, whoever it is should appear at their "unveiling" press conference in cravat, smoking jacket and turkish slippers

Some interesting comments here re: 'Dicky Dosh'...

http://upthesaddlers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28812&p=686192#p686192

The comments regarding style of play and his lack of PR skills make him sound like a cross between Sturrock and King.

Be prepared for plenty of 1-0 and 2-0 wins, an organised team that will understand what is required to counter the opposition's threats. It's a 'bricks and mortar' approach - built on fitness, organisation, knowledge of the oppo and playing it simple.

I'll settle for that bring it on  :D

Is this guy the next manager...............confirmed?????

It seems like he is a bit of a marmite manager, love him or hate him. The general opinion seems to be that he is a result getter but without any of the sparkly bits.

Depends on what you want really, Nice attractive football or results? I would go for the results everytime. Hopefully a bit of sparkle will appear from time to time. I would like to think that a combintion of some of our existing players and Dickie could produce that piece of quality at least a few times during a game.

Again, is he our manager?????

Agree he gets more stick than he deserves as a player, but he's no leader. Unless your definition of leader is bellowing at all the players around him and blaming them when he should be organising them. To take just one example, when he should have been organising the defence for the corner Histon scored from, he instead spent his time laying into Jack Smith for something that had happened about five minutes before. Not my idea of leadership

Title: Re: Seems our new manager is................
Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, December 13, 2008, 13:27:29
My point re: Nile Ranger was that we need the manager to worry about the defensive aspects of our game as a primary concern. We're scoring goals at a decent rate, we're just leaking them just as easily.

Fair point. Not seen it this season though. Meh, game of opinions and all that, and mine are usually wrong. If a new manager can start to get captain's performances out of Hasney, I'll be very happy and happy to applaud him in that role

Walsall fans seem to think it's a negative that we'll be boring yet win every game. As someone else said, winning football is entertaining football! If he likes the simplicity it could spell the end for McNamee however... We'll have to wait and see.

Walsall fans also said he was always quick to criticise them for being too quiet. Last two times I went up there they made no noise at all so you can't really blame him for that!

Why has Flitton taken so long to appoint a new manager shouldn't he have had a contingency plan before sacking Malpas, as other clubs dont take a month+ to complete this process.
Finally  I hope the final 4 x interviewees weren't restricted by their willingness to work or not with a existing backroom team that has failed. Money will be ok but would have preferred Holloway.

Holloway was a total disaster at Leicester (and as I'm married to a Leicester fan, I know of what I speak), we are better off without him.  And if Venebles was the 'blow your socks off candidate' then fuck me we dodged a bullet there!  I've had enough of former banned company directors at Swindon to last a fucking lifetime.

Fitton has said that he could've made a quick appointment and then stated that he was glad that he didn't. That says to me that he spoke to the early contenters and wasn't impressed. That's fair enough in my opinion.

There is still plenty of time and a transfer window to save this season from being a total disaster... There's simply no point dwelling.

Get the guy in early next week and let's see what happens.

Who would have been your choice then Donkey?

A fair question.  I'm happy with Dickie Dosh, but to be honest it's difficult when you're not part of the selection process to really offer alternatives.  It's easier to respond to those names once they're thrown in to the ring.  Stuart Pearce would've been ace...but was it ever realistic?  However, if you want me to name the one guy I would've gone for (which was your original question) then Jan Aage Fjortoft.  I have no idea if he'd have been any good, but it'd made me very happy.  I'd have aeroplaned all the way to the CG.

Good shout...i just wish Forest had lost a few more...think Calderwood and Kerslake would have been brilliant.

For years I wanted Calderwood...even going back to when he was still at Spurs.  Always thought he'd do well...but I feel he should've done better at both Northampton and Forest.  I know he's taken them both up, but it feels to me that he should've done better.  I know that is unfair as he's won promotion, but it's how I feel.  If Calderwood had been appointed after Todd left I'd have been delighted.  After King left (both times) I'd have been delighted.  After Iffy left, I'd have been delighted.  Now...I'm not so sure.  Obvioulsy if Calderwood and Kerslake did turn up they'd get my full support.

I've always suspected there is a time difference between Swindon and Sussex.

I always assumed Sussex was in Spain. Obviously not much of a clue after all then.

iNTERESTING - Walsall's defence has been shocking since Money left them and now have equalled their record for not getitng clean sheets since he left... could be a very good appointment if the comments below come true....

Good review by a walsall fan on Dickie Dosh, My comments in brackets

pro's

He will have you very well organised (Isn't that the captains job? But a good thing)

He plays it very simple

The defence will be excellent (Good because its been shocking)

you will be successful (Good as we have been shit lately)

cons

childish and immature attitude towards the fans and the press (Andy King/ MM MK 2, Thought Fitton wanted someone fan friendly? I guess wins do get fans on side though)

He does play long ball (Long ball under Luggy wasn't nice to watch but got results so didn't care)

He doesn't play with any width whatsoever, plays very narrow, I think in one game we had about 8 defensive players on the pitch (Bye Bye Macca)

Some terrible signings (Can't be any worse than Casal, Nalis and Amankwaah??)

in summary

You will be very successful but the football or his relationship with anyone associated with the club wont be pretty

If your number 1 concern is success and you couldnt give a monkeys about the negative stuff then DD is your man!

OTHER FANS SAID...

You'll get results.
You'll be really hard to beat and it'll be rare to see an opposing side score more than 1 against you.
You'll have a team full of players who will work really hard for eachother.
You'll have a manager who will always put the best interests of the team ahead of those of individual players.

Essentially, you'll be what the majority of football fans at this level are happy to see.

For some reason, Money got a bit of stick from a minority of morons who sat behind the dugout at our place and he wasn't backed by our chairman.
Richard Money did an outstanding job with us during his time at our place. I'll always thank him for that and wish him all the best wherever he goes.

---You will have an excellent manager who understands the concept of tactics, subs and getting the best out of a team.
Our loss will be your gain, I wish him well if he joins you.

---Brilliant manager and I'd love him back tomorrow. No, make that TODAY, and get rid of this clown we have now!

Apart from his rather bristly style with the fans and press, I found NOTHING to criticise Dicky Dosh for, and I enjoyed the football most of the time. Every side has bad days and sometimes they weren't pretty, but right now I'd appreciate "effective" tremendously compared to what the fans (those that are still going that is, we had under 3,800 yesterday!) are apparently having to endure right now.

The references to hoofball are way OTT and, it seems, relate to the bloke who is currently in charge at the Banks's. The football under DD was massively better, more effective, more organised, more committed and more successful (well I guess it couldn't be less successful) than this idiot that we have now.

I hope DD gets this new managerial appointment and that he is as successful there as he was with us. We owe him a massive "thank you" for saving us from free-fall into the Conference and completely reversing our fortunes in his first season such that we won the League Two Championship in 2007 and went on by January 2008 to be mighty close to a decent promotion opportunity from League One. It's just such a shame that, at that point, our esteemed leader completely wasted all that progress and chose to take us back two years to where we were - and maybe worse than we were - under Merson!

Good luck to you and DD if you can get him on board, and a great big   to the fools at the Banks's

I think Walsalls defence getting worse has something to do with them selling their best two defenders to Coventry more so than Money leaving.

Thats an ace synopsis from Walsall fans Gazza. Well done.

Sounds like Money could do a good job for us then. Sturrocks style of play wasn't always exciting but it got results and a promotion. If Money could get us settled and possibly promoted in the next couple of seasons I'd settle for him being a stroppy cunt with the press and the fans.

If he's that stroppy, it would be the best of both worlds for fans because we could all moan like fuck on the forums as well as see the club do well. Result :D

If it was RM the board wanted then you would imagine it would have been a quick appointment as he is youth director or something and you'd think if he wanted to move back into managment it would be done quickly as he'd resign and they would quickly agree compo as it isn't as if they are losing their manager.

I can only think that Money asked for the weekend to consider his options before a decision today.

I suspect if it does not get done today then it is not Money they are after, and we will have to wait another week as I think Fitton flies to the US today, although why Watkins cannot deal with it I don't know, he is chief exec for a reason.

Erm, aren't you just raising an objection to your own assumptions? Maybe if you assume that Fitton flying to the US won't hold things up, you'll feel better about it :)

I think I'm trying to convince myself that we will have a manager in by Sat and all will then be right with the world

it is just pathetic it is like some of them want whoever it is not to succeed so they can continue to moan.

the only point made in that thread is that Money is unlikely to bring in a backroom team with him as apparently he hasnt done else where, so will work with what we've currently got.

Other than that, bollocks as usual. Will the fanbase ever be united again?

it is just comments like this

"The early optimism has now gone and I for one fear the new appointment is once again going to be the cheap option.
The overhaul I was hoping for seems unlikely to happen.
Would Money be the man to bring stability to the club, from his CV I think it seems unlikely.
Prove me wrong Mr Fitton & Co." and

"Money cheap option manager again hope it works if its him.
Speed good player but not manager ???
Calderwood good swindon player but was lucky to take forest up last year dont want him. "

no one has even been confirmed yet and negativity is starting.

Im clearly a sarcastic realist.

I'd be happy with Richard Money in charge and I'd certainly perfer to him to about 90% of the other names that have been linked.
